Chapter 2

"Rain, can you just shut up? You never stop talking about Ple! I get it, she is the most beautiful girl you've ever seen, she's kind and smart... now that I think about it, none of these adjectives could be used to describe you, ironic right?" Sky said sighing annoyed after Rain turned to talk to him at the end of a lecture.

"What am I supposed to do?" Rain asked.

"Ask her out! If you believe that you actually have a chance, then do it, but if you just want to complain because you think that she will never fall in love with someone like you... and I cannot really blame her, then face it and move on!" Sky responded with the hope that a speech like that could actually make a difference, even though he made that kind of speech basically every time Rain annoyed him because of Ple.

"But... Payu is..."

"Rain, listen: unless Ple is as stupid as you and doesn't understand when it is time to give up, and I find it very unlikely, then she surely moved on from her crush for Payu. He's been with her brother for months, why would she still try to get to him? Don't you think that would make her a bad sister?" Sky explained his point of view quite clearly, finally convincing Rain that Ple wasn't a threat anymore.

Ple entered their classroom and waved at a friend of hers behind Rain. Sky looked at his friends and noticed the sparkle in his eyes after he misunderstood that simple gesture. That same day, Rain went back home, he opened a drawer of his desk and picked a tiny gift he bought for Ple a few weeks before. He wrapped it with paper and thought about the right occasion to deliver it.

The next day he brought the little present with him to his lectures. Sky slapped the back of Rain's head, since he was too busy looking at Ple to even bothering taking notes, an activity mostly unknown to the young freshman.

"Do you think..." Rain hesitated while talking to Sky right after the end of the final lecture of the day.

"You better do it now or I'll sell you to the mafia. Come on, oh look, your rival is there, if you want to obtain something, you should definitely do it now" Sky interrupted him and pointed at Payu in the distance. The young architect was with Som and they were waiting for Ple to arrive, so that Payu could take both of them home.

Rain took a deep breath, Payu didn't notice it and while Ple was putting her bag into the back of the car, he sat on the driver seat and started checking his meetings on the agenda of his phone. Rain approached Ple and said:

"Ple, I like you!"

Som heard the loud love confession and chuckled, he then proceeded to enjoy the whole scene by looking at the mirror on the side of the car. Ple was surely surprised by that sudden exclamation, but she smiled brightly and quickly regained her composure.

"Really, Rain?"

"Yes! I like you! Would you like to... go out with me sometimes?"

"There are a few movies I would like to watch, we could go to the cinema together, on Saturday for example, would you be ok with that?" Ple proposed and Rain didn't even think about it, he felt like his heart was about to burst with joy at the thought of spending some time alone with her... alone with probably one hundred people in a dark room with a screen, better than being just a name on the list of students read at the beginning of a lecture.

Ple smiled again, she asked Rain for his phone number and then got into the car. Rain went back to Sky, jumping happily like in some sort of cartoon, shouting that Ple accepted his love confession and that he couldn't be happier.

"She really said yes?"

"She said that she wants to go to the cinema with me! So that's probably a yes, right?"

"I'm so proud of you right now. To be honest, I didn't even think you would dare to do such thing. Very good" Sky replied.

Rain didn't notice it, he was too enthusiastic to notice anything around him, but Sky wasn't sure about the future of that relationship. He didn't want Ple to see Rain as some sort of replacement, but he quickly tried to wipe those sad thoughts away, confident that his friend could actually manage to date someone who deserved the kind of pure and naïve love Rain could give.
