Pain rockets down my spine in a rhythm, on, off, on, off. Wave after wave swamps through my body. I pull against the restraints, arching my back upwards. Hands jam lights in my face and my vision floods with tears. The scribble of hasty notes and beeping machines fill the air. Please God make it stop. Please. My arms and legs spasm, harrowing jolts of pain shoot down my back. The stitches in my abdomen and chest tear open, blood seeps down my legs and across my stomach. I scream in agony, my throat ripping raw. Blackness clouds my vision, dancing before my eyes. I can't fall asleep, not again. Fireworks of excruciating pain explode across my body, shredding my mind to tiny broken pieces.

"Stop," I gasp, dragging in heavy, wet breaths. Another surge of pain shoots down my back, lurching me sideways. "Please." White-hot pain flashes behind my eyes, dragging me into unconsciousness.
