Setting: Car

Imani's Pov

"You saw him didn't you?" He said grabbing my hand gently as he spoke in a calm tone.

"No! Can you please stop asking?" I gripped the wheel tighter and tried to focus on the road.

"Mhm. Okay" Hakiem said slumping back into the seat.

I pulled into Denny's and pulled into a space. After cutting the engine off we just sat there in complete silence for a few minutes.

"Um.....so can we get out now 'cause a n*gga is hungry" Hakiem said looking at me.

"Oh..yeah you can get out I'll be there in a second."

He nodded and got out the car. I waited till I saw him walk in the door before I pulled out my phone. It rang a while before he finally picked up.

"Ayye ma whats up?"

"Um...nothing actually"

"Then why did you call?" He said in a matter-of-fact tone. He knows me so well.

"I saw Chres today"

".........really?"

"Yea we kinda talked too"

"Surprized he didn't tell me?"

"Yea but anyway I'm think I can get out of here soon.....I need help"

"That's what I'm here fo-"

"CRAIIIGGGG SHE WON'T STOP CRYING" I swear his wife is comical.

Craig had a baby with his ex wife right before they got a divorce. Jennifer (his ex wife) decided she didn't want the baby after she found out that Craig had started dating again. It was like she thought that because Alyssa was around Camilla, she was infected or something. Craig proposed after a month of dating her and Camilla is still trying to get the hang of being a mother.

"Uhh I gotta go" He said quickly.

"Its cool. Tell Cami I said don't drop the baby again"

"IT WAS AN ACCIDENT D*MN" She screamed through the phone.

I chuckled.

"Love you too. Bye" I said hanging up and getting out the car.

When I walked in one of the waiters escorted me to where Hakiem was sitting with the drinks already there. He looked up at me and smiled the went back to his phone. I sat across from him and started watching a movie on Netflix waiting till it was time to order. The waiter asked what we wanted but the movie started getting good so I stopped listening to him talk until Hakiem tapped my foot under the table.

I took out one earphone and looked around clueless. "Uhh I'll just get whatever he got" Isaid putting my earphone back in. When the waiter left I started feeling eyes on me but when I looked up Hakiem was still on his phone and nobody else seemed to be staring. After 10 mins of being straight out paranoid I got up and sat next to Hakiem and put my face in his shoulder.

"Whats up with you?" He said lifting me up and making me look at him.

"I don't like when people stare at me" I said putting my face back in his arm.

"Who?"

"I don't know"

I felt him move as he looked around for anybody looking. "I don't see anyone. Do you wanna go home?" He said rubbing my back.

"No I'm hungry" I got up and went back to my side and sat down. The food came out soon after and we talked for about an hour. I still felt eyes on me when we got in the truck.
