Math. Ugh. Why does school have to be so incredibly boring? With equations and protractors. Just no. What should I do? I felt the knife I had packed in my bag. I raised my hand. 'Sir?' 'Yes, Ivy?' 'May I go to the toilet?' 'You should have done that during break.' I sigh and slump in my seat. I doodle in my notebook and look around the classroom. X sits next to Laila, Max sits next to Gus. I sit next to no one. Everyone hates me. The bell rings. Soft voices circulate through the classroom. I slowly pack my bag as the teacher approaches me. 'I saw that you scored a 0.3 on your last test,' he says with an irritated tone in his voice. 'That's correct.' I say dryly. 'You need to do something about that, Ivy, it's not okay.' 'I have other things on my mind than your subject that I don't even understand.' With those words, I walk out of the classroom. I push against the door of the girls' bathroom. I cup my hands and splash a large amount of cold water on my face. Behind me, a toilet flushes. In reflex, I turn around. 'Hi.' the girl says. She has long, shiny blonde hair. Glasses with a golden frame. A blue crop top and black cargo pants. The perfect girl, it seems. I wish I was so perfect. I am not anyone's first choice at the moment, never have been actually. My murderous urge tightens my throat and I say with a strained voice: 'You're really perfect.' The girl looks at me in surprise. 'Everyone likes you and everyone wants to be friends with you..' The girl takes a step back and slowly grabs her phone. I squat down and feel the knife poking in my shin between my sock and my leg. I take it out. The girl's face tenses up and her eyes become glassy. Her body jerks and she gasps for breath, until she can't anymore. I quickly run to one of the toilet cubicles. Commotion at the door. I hear Olivia with her friends. A juicy scream. That's what I wanted and nothing else. Now it's time to play a role. I flush the toilet and open the cubicle. I let out a scream as loud as Olivia did. 'What have you done?!' I say 'shocked'. 'I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!' she shouts. 'THEN WHY ARE YOU HERE?!' I say pretending to be traumatized. She looks at me in shock. 'Since when are you here?' Before I can answer her, the door flies open. The math teacher comes in and looks shocked at the situation unfolding. A pale Olivia and a slightly, almost imperceptibly, grinning me. He mumbles something to himself and quickly storms out of the door. I put on my poker face again. 'What is he going to do?' Olivia asks nervously. 'No idea.' I squat down next to the dead body of the girl. She won't be alive anymore. Her eyes stare blankly ahead. Somewhere deep inside me, I feel a slight sense of guilt. I push it away. 'What could her name be?' I turn to Olivia. 'I think she's called Amber. She sits behind me in Geography.' I feel her pockets. I carefully take out her bloodied phone. On her background, Amber herself is pictured with a young boy. My breath catches. 'Olivia..' I begin, but before I can say more, the principal enters. She sighs and doesn't seem disturbed. 'This can't go on like this, Peter.' she says. 'The school is going into lockdown immediately.'
