First Meeting
The paths of Seungmin and Jisung first crossed together during their sophomore year of high school. Seungmin, who was engrossed in books and stories, chose to spend his lunch break at the library on a rainy Tuesday afternoon to escape the noise of the cafeteria. He had no idea how this choice might affect the course of his life.
On the other hand, Jisung enjoyed telling stories through images. Whether it was the way sunlight streamed through the leaves or the complex emotions on people's faces, he would frequently carry a camera with him and capture moments that caught his attention. His goal was to work as a director for films, bringing stories to life on the big screen.
On that fateful day, Jisung wandered into the library and a camera slung over his shoulder, hoping to find inspiration for his project. As he looked over the bookshelves, he noticed Seungmin engrossed in a book, a notepad filled with his scribblings by his side. Intrigued by the mysterious air surrounding Seungmin, Jisung decided to strike up a conversation.
"Whatcha reading, something thrilling or just a classic?" Jisung asked, a friendly grin on his face.
Seungmin looked up from his book, momentarily startled by the interruption. He blinked at Jisung, then smiled, realizing he wasn't alone in the quiet corner of the library.
"Just some classic literature," Seungmin replied, his eyes reflecting a mix of surprise and curiosity. "It's my escape from the everyday chaos."
Jisung nodded, his interest piqued. "I'm Jisung, by the way. Mind if I join you?"
Seungmin hesitated for a moment, then gestured to the empty seat opposite him. "Sure, have a seat. I'm Seungmin."
Jisung plopped down on the chair opposite, his camera making a soft thud. "Nice to meet you, Seungmin! What fascinating literary universe has caught your interest lately, then?
Seungmin chuckled, closing his book temporarily. "Just getting lost in a classic mystery. I love the suspense and those plot twists that keep you guessing."
Jisung leaned in with mock seriousness. "A mystery, you say? The plot thickens! What's the scoop on your current read?"
Seungmin reopened the book to reveal the cover. "It's 'The Maltese Falcon' by Dashiell Hammett. Ever checked it out?" Jisung nodded enthusiastically. "Oh, that's a gem!"
Seungmin's eyes flickered with curiosity as he spotted the camera slung over Jisung's shoulder. "Hey, Jisung, I couldn't help but notice that stunning camera of yours. What's the story behind it?"
Jisung giggled and fiddled with the camera strap. "No story behind here, Seungmin. I'm just a wannabe director trying to find inspiration around me. It's my trusty sidekick in this journey."
Seungmin leaned in with interest. "A director, huh? That's cool! Any specific genre or theme you're passionate about?"
Jisung's eyes lit up with excitement. "Oh, definitely! I'm all about telling stories that tug at the heartstrings, you know? I'm a sucker for those feel-good moments and the kind of films that stay with you long after the credits roll."
Seungmin grinned. "That sounds amazing. Any projects in the works, or are you still in the plotting and planning stage?"
Jisung nodded, a spark of determination in his eyes. "Right now, it's mostly dreaming and planning. But who knows? Maybe one day you'll see my name on the big screen. It's the dream, at least."
Seungmin, taking a sip of his coffee, couldn't help but relate to Jisung's dream. He gestured towards the camera. "Your dream of being a director sounds incredible, Jisung. It's fascinating how stories come to life visually. Speaking of dreams, I've got one too."
Jisung, intrigued, set the camera down. "Oh? Do tell, Seungmin. What's your dream?"
Seungmin smiled, his eyes lighting up. "I've always wanted to be a film writer. There's something magical about creating stories that resonate with people, and the idea of writing words that eventually become scenes on a screen—it's just captivating."
Jisung nodded appreciatively. "Wow, that's awesome! The synergy between a director and a writer is like the heartbeat of a film. Seungmin, the literary adventurer. Jisung, the cinematic explorer. So, what's the thrilling tale today, or are we in for a classic romance?"
Seungmin chuckled at Jisung's playful characterization. "Well, today's literary adventure has a dash of mystery, a sprinkle of drama, and just a hint of romance. It's a genre-blending masterpiece, or at least that's what I hope my future scripts will be like."
Jisung chuckled. "Ah, the perfect blend! I can already see the dramatic shots and hear the soundtrack building up to a climactic revelation. You've got a talent for this, Seungmin."
Seungmin modestly shrugged. "Just developing stories for now, but maybe one day you'll be behind the camera bringing them to life."
Jisung grinned. "That's the dream! Collaborating on a project where your words meet my lens. But seriously, Seungmin, it sounds like you've got something special cooking. I can't wait to see your stories unfold, whether on paper or the screen. Imagine the magic we could create!"
Seungmin's eyes sparkled with appreciation for Jisung's contagious excitement. "Your enthusiasm means a lot. And hey, the thought of us coming together to work on a project seems like the creation of a masterpiece in the making. Who knows what we could come up with!"
Jisung raised an imaginary clapperboard, playing along. "Scene one, take one—Action!"
As the rain outside intensified, Seungmin and Jisung continued their lively talk in the cozy corner of the library, their laughter and joking around attracted the attention of other students. Usually a place of quiet, the library was suddenly filled with the joyful chatter of newly formed friendships.
