Note: Hello! This is the first story that I published here on Wattpad. I hope you'll like this story.

I came home from the grocery store. I put all the goods on the table. I then lay on the couch, overwhelmed with fatigue.

*Sighs*

If only... Only... if only... if-

*There will be a heavy snow later at night* T.V. news report.

I walked to the window, sipping hot chocolate while watching kids play in the snow. The other kid slipped, but he just laughed. How happy they are.

I do all the chores in the house everyday. Work. Chores. Sleep. Chores. Work...

I thought I'm aleady used to it. But... it only gets worse everyday. Harder. And... Harder! I don't wanna continue doing this anymore. Can't I just take a break and free myself from all these things?

Yes, one could say that I have a simple routine. A simple routine you say?! Is that all you perceive? You don't see what I am suffering from. No one ever see how many times how hard I tried not take my own life. My heart's so heavy that it's about to explode.

*Loud noise. Baby crying*

*The door opened*

"Father. Father! My brother is crying! Don't you care for him? Ughhh."

I went straight to the bathroom, staring at myself in the mirror. I saw my own reflection. There he is, a child with eyes full of sadness. W-wait.... a child? Ahh. No. I thought he was a child for a moment.

Just as when I'm about to finish cooking...

"Trick or treat!"

I opened the door and saw a little boy.

"Trick or treat?" He said with a sweet voice.

I gave him some of the chocolates I bought earlier.

"Dark chocolates? Come on..."

What? You don't like it? I'll just take them. Now, leave.

"No. Wait. Fine, I'll take it."

I closed the door and prepared my dinner.

Guess what? It seems like the children are having fun going house to house for treats. Wait- It's not the time for halloween. And, it's freezing outside. What is he doing?

*Knockings*

Argh. Who would want to meet me at this hour, on this day, at this night, at this time? Oh-

I saw him again when I opened the door.

What do you want?

"Can you just give me a hot chocolate instead? Please."

No.

"Come on. It's so cold outside."

Do you think you can fool me, kid? Do you think you're good at pulling this kind of prank?!

"If you don't want to, I'll just leave then. Bye-"

No! Wait for your chocolate.

I handed him the hot chocolate.

"See, there's no need to shout. I know you're a good person."

I was just worried for someone who's outside at this hour of freezing temperature!

*He smiled*

"Bye bye! Thanks for the treat."

*He walks outside*

Hey, kid, wait. You forgot your scarf.

I tried following him outside. So close, yet so far. He seems to be more far away as I go near him.

*Sighs*

Every step I take is accompanied by a deep breath. The snow is thick. I walk faster and faster. It's getting hard to walk. Harder to breathe.

*Sighs*

Oh man, I feel like I'm slowly freezing to death. I can't find him anymore. I don't even know where I am now. All I can say is that I'm lost in the woods full of snow.

I tried to look around again. Then I saw him.

"We've been waiting for you, father."

*They smiled at me*

How could I not recognize my own son? I'm such an awful father. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

*He cried with his heart*

Ohh, my three beloved sons and my beloved wife. I'm sorry to keep you waiting.
