June was in her bedroom sitting on the floor of her closet digging through the hangers of clothing looking for something to wear for the first day of school.
She was a senior in high school and this year she was transferring to a different school due to the fact that her parents were divorcing.
June was forced to live with her mom in California who she didn't get along with very well so she was really upset about that but at the same time she was kind of happy due to the fact she got bullied at her old school and her best friend Joey attended this school and this was giving her the possibility of finally meeting other people who would probably accept her.
June wanted friends. Joey was her only friend since she was 4. She started to have a crush on him when she turned 8, but never told because she knew he wouldn't feel the same way about her. She still did have feelings for him now, but she'd never tell him because she knew that would destroy their friendship if he didn't feel the same way about her and she knew he didn't .
When she was 12, he moved to California and they still kept in touch through social media, but as years went by it seemed like they began to slowly drift apart. But now that they attended the same school they could pick up where they left off.
June weighed around 170 lbs and was 5'1, so she was a little bit on the heavier side. She always got bullied about her weight and her looks ever since she was a little kid.
Not only was she bullied at school, but as a kid her mother would call her fat and tell her how much she regretted having her and would tell her that she needed to go on a diet. There was even a time where her mother would do things like hide all the food from June, so that she would eat less.
This was one of the reasons why June didn't get along with her mom as much as she did with her dad. She didn't understand how her mother could ever get with someone like her dad, she was low-key happy he was divorcing her.
June was really close to her father because he always loved June the way she was and never made fun about her weight or anything. He always reminded her that she was beautiful and didn't have to change a thing.
As June was looking for something to wear her mom barged into her room. "June it's 6:59 have you even fucking showered yet ? You're gonna be late for school and I'll be damned if I'm late for work because of your ass."
June turned around looking up at her mother. "Mom, don't you see me looking for something to wear ? It's not like I'm just sitting here letting the time fly by."
Her mom was all dressed up in her usual work outfit. Her hair was in a slick ponytail and she wore some 4 inch high heels, which she had almost every color of.
On Monday she would wear the black ones, on Tuesday she would wear the white ones, and on Wednesday she would wear the red ones, and on Thursday and Friday she would wear either the beige or blue ones.
June never understood how her mother was able to walk in those heels every morning.
Her mother looked down at her, "Girl don't catch a damn attitude with me. You better be ready in a hour or I'm leaving you here, I can't afford to be late, I have a very important meeting today." And with that her mom walked out her room slamming the door.
June got up and walked into her bathroom. She took a shower and did her morning routine. After she was done she walked over to the mirror.
June looked into the mirror at herself and studied her face and body for a while. She analyzed her body seeing the rolls on her back and the fat on her stomach. Seconds later she began to cry. She didn't understand why she couldn't be skinny.
