I walk up to the entrance of Hollywood Arts. It's 8:15am. Fifteen minutes before class starts. I enter the building and look around not sure where to go. It's my first day, I just moved to LA from Atlanta. My dad got a big job offer and decided to take it. My mum died when I was eight, she was amazing. I miss her. Ever since she died my dad hardly talks to me, he says he can't bear to look at my face. I guess I resemble her too much. Although even before that he wasn't the best dad... or husband for that matter.

My eyes are a hazel color, but go light green when in the beaming sun. My dark hair falls gracefully past my waist, it's perfectly straight. I often style it in a blowout or with a couple little braids with lace ribbons tied at the ends forming a bow. My face is structured with a sharp jawline and an upturned nose. I have full, pouty lips I often outline with a smudged brown liner, filling the middle with a soft pink. I'm pale, no matter how long I lay in the sun I never tan, only burn. My breasts are full with a slim waist. I've got a great ass that I like to show off with short skirts. Today is no exception. I'm wearing a tight, black mini skirt and a muted red tank top that hugs my waist. On my feet are black knee high boots, with a slight heel and I've got an oversized black leather jacket to keep me warm.

I wander around aimlessly looking for the principal's office. It's gotta be somewhere round here. I turn to see a smiley brunette with great cheekbones staring back at me. "Hey, are you new?" she asks gleefully.

"Yeah, I'm Y/n. I'm so lost. Do you happen to know where the principal's office is?"

"I'm Tori and yeah it's over here. Come, I'll show you."

"Thanks," I say, smiling back at her.

"So where'd you move from?" she asks.

"Oh I used to live in Atlanta but I moved because my dad got this huge work opportunity,"

"That's cool. I bet you're going to love it here. This school is so much fun."

"I hope so," I reply, smiling awkwardly.

"Well this is the principal's office, I'll see you around. It was nice meeting you." She says cheerfully.

"Thanks, you too," I say as she walks down the hall waving goodbye.

I knock on the door to the principal's office. A big, short woman opens the door. "You must be Y/n."

"Yep, that's me." She grabs a piece of paper and hands it to me.

"This is your weekly schedule. Your first class of the day is with professor Sikowitz."

"Sikowitz?" I question.

"Yep, he's our acting teacher. He's a bit odd but he's good at his job." I nod. The bell echoes loudly down the halls. "Right, I'll show you to his classroom." I follow her down the hall and round the corner. "Here it is," she says, gesturing for me to enter. "Hi everyone, this is Y/n Y/l/n. She's a new student who will be joining this class." Everyone turns to look at me. I see Tori sitting in the front, she smiles at me, I smile in return. Next to her sits a smiley redhead holding a purple giraffe. "Come, take a seat," the professor says as the principal walks away.

I look around, the only seat left is the one next to this girl with piercing blue eyes and long jet black hair with a few green streaks. I smile at her, she rolls her eyes in return. What's up with her? I can't help but admire how beautiful she is. I have to get her to like me.

"Alright everyone now for this semester's assignment," groans echo throughout the classroom, "with Y/n joining us there is now an even number of students in the class, so each of you will be paired up and given a genre. You will then have to make a short film based on your given genre. You will have limited dialog as this assignment is about body language and how important music can be in film. In this hat I have all of your names and in this hat I have many different genres. I'm going to select two names and one genre at a time and that will be how we decide who's with who and what genre you will get." He pulls out a bunch of names and genres. Finally he pulls out my name. There are only three other people left, Jade being one of them. As intimidating as she is, I really hope I get her. "Y/n and... Jade!" he says with enthusiasm, "you two will make a short film with the genre of..." There are only two genres I can think of that he hasn't already called out. Horror and romance, "...romance."

"Ugggh!" Jade groans. "I wanted horror, now I have to make a stupid lovey dovey short film with the new girl!" she says angrily. I smile awkwardly at her not knowing what else to do. She glares at me before turning away.

"Now remember this assignment will be 50% of your final grade, you have four weeks to complete it. I suggest you use your time wisely and don't mess around." The bell rings. "I look forward to seeing your final results. Gooday." He says as everyone gets up to leave.

I go to leave with everyone else when Jade stands up pushing me back into my seat. "I don't want to fail this class," she says aggressively, "we're going to get an A, understand?" She's holding these silver, shiny scissors and swinging them around. I gulp. "Hey! Do you understand?" She says firmly leaning in close to me. I can't help but feel butterflies in my stomach. I nod. "Good," she says blankly, "if we're going to get an A we need to work really hard and utilize the time we have. What are you doing this afternoon?" she questions.

"Nothing," I reply.

"Great, well I'll come round to your house and we can plan out what we're going to do."

"Okay."

"Where do you live?"

"It's an hour walk away."

"You walked here?" she says shocked.

"Yeah, well I don't have my license and my dad works from 6am till 9pm." She raises her eyebrows, I notice the left one is pierced.

"So you have to walk everyday, no matter what?" I nod. "And you're basically alone throughout the whole week?"

"Pretty much. The only day off he has is Wednesday so I'm all alone on the weekends. He avoids seeing me."

"Why?" she asks curiously.

"Well I look alot like my mom and ever since she died he hasn't been able to look at me. We barely even speak."

"What an ass!" she says angrily.

"Yeah," I chuckle.

"What's so funny?" she asks, raising her eyebrows again.

"Nothing," I say nonchalantly.

"Tell me, Y/l/n," she threatens me with the scissors.

"It's just, usually people feel sorry for me and my dad and go quiet. But you called my dad an ass. Idk I just thought it was nice not having you pity him... or me"

"Why would I pity him, his dead wife doesn't give him a pass to be a shitty father. And I don't pity you..." she hesitates, "...I relate to you. Both of my parents are selfish assholes" We lock eyes as the tension rises, I can't help but notice how close our faces are. I'm feeling things I shouldn't. She backs away, I try to hide my disappointment. "Meet me at the entrance after school. I'll give you a ride home and we can work on our assignment." I nod. She leaves to go to her next class. I totally have a crush on this girl.
