As soon as they walked in the door, Ms. Vicki was standing by the office looking at her watch.

"I thought I was going to have to come looking for yal in a minute. I told you to be back at four, it's almost 4:30. Group time ladies so head back there, but China let me talk to you first."

China and Rhondae' looked at each other Rhondae' and whispered

"Uh Oh" then walked off going to group.

"Yeah Ms. Vicki?"

 "Come in the office China."

She unlocked the office door and China followed behind her. They were late but why didn't she call Rhondae' too? "In the back of the office Ms. Vicki sat down in a chair and motioned for China to sit across from her.

"Now would you like to tell me why you were rolling around in the street fighting Rissa over a boy?"

China was surprised. How did she know about the fight already and how did she know Prehmium had something to do with it. She remained silent for a minute choosing her words carefully since she didn't know how much Ms. Vicki already knew. For some reason she hated to disappoint her.

"It wasn't just over Prehmium, Rissa brought up my brother and Prencess."

Ms. Vicki sighed knowing that was a soft spot for her. When China came she didn't give DCFS many details on what happened to J but a few weeks after being there Ms. Vicki caught her crying in her room. That was the night China told her everything about her time living with Prencess and what happened to J She never told anyone else because she felt when China was ready to discuss it with her therapist she would.

"China, I know that's touchy for you but you have to find a better way to handle negative comments. You're too pretty to be rolling around the streets fighting. You are a black queen and you deserve more than life has given you so far. You have to find a way to move forward, if you let that continue to be a trigger for you everyone will know the quickest way to piss you off and use it against you."

China nodded her head. Ms. Vicki could always put things into perspective for her.

"And never fight over a man, I know you love Prehmium and he's a good kid but remember, any man worth fighting over won't ever let you fight over him. He loves you China but you pay attention to your woman's intuition not these girls in the streets."

 "What's a woman's intuition?"

"It a small voice in your heart that tells you when something isn't right. If you've been feeling like something is up when you're around Prehmium then that's your intuition telling you something is up. But if you feel confident in your relationship without any doubts then what girls in the streets say is irrelevant."

China hugged Ms. Vicki, this conversation had definitely put her at ease about her relationship.

"Now head to your independent living skills group. This week the volunteers are teaching yal to make roast and potatoes as well as how to properly set a table."

"Do we have to go to these groups twice a week?"

"Yes, ma'am they teach you useful skills you'll need once you're on your own, every week it a skill that will be useful to you later."

"Okay, but I got a question Ms. Vicki?"

"You want to know how I knew you got in a fight in the first place don't you?" China nodded.

 "You're like a daughter to me China there's nothing I don't know."

She winked and opened the door for China. Rhondae' watched from her spot outside of the office where she had been easedropping. She rolled her eyes and walked back to group.
