CHAPTER 41 "BLONDE IDIOT"
[real life]
melina's first night at the triplets' house was definitely something, all because of a spider.
after walking out of her room in a rush, melina looked down the hallway toward matt's room. she sighed, hesitating for only a moment before deciding to go for it. chris' room wasn't an option—he was a complete wimp when it came to bugs, unlike matt, who would probably just kill it without a second thought.
and there was no way she was about to sleep in the guest room, knowing a spider was lurking in there, waiting to bite her during the night.
absolutely not.
she took a deep breath and made her way toward matt's room, hoping he wouldn't be too much of a pain about it.
melina quietly crept into matt's room, trying not to make a sound, but she couldn't help the soft creak of the floorboards under her feet. matt, who had been fast asleep, stirred and blinked open his eyes to find her standing awkwardly at the foot of his bed.
"what are you doing in here?" he mumbled, rubbing his eyes as he tried to shake off the remnants of sleep.
melina shifted uncomfortably, her eyes avoiding his. "i saw a giant spider in the guest room..." she muttered, barely above a whisper.
matt raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying her excuse. "what? so you're just gonna come in here and stand at the foot of my bed?"
"i—i can't sleep in there," she said, a little more frustrated now. "it was huge."
"so?" matt asked, sounding like he really didn't care.
"well, i can't sleep in there!" she repeated, fidgeting in place.
matt sighed, rolling over in bed and pulling the covers up around himself. "what do you want me to do about it?" he asked, his voice thick with sleep.
"kill it!" melina almost shouted, more out of desperation than anything else.
"goodnight," matt muttered, turning his back to her and making himself comfortable under the covers.
"matt!" melina groaned, walking over to his side of the bed and poking him repeatedly on the shoulder. "please! i can't sleep knowing it's in there!"
matt groaned in irritation, his patience wearing thin. "i don't care about your spider problem, melina. you're on your own for that one."
"matt!" she whined again, poking him harder this time. "i'm serious! please just get up and kill it. i'll never be able to sleep otherwise!"
