Timburu stared at the cover of the book she had taken: "The Unconscious and the Subconscious." Something about the book seemed to interest her, as she had thumbed her way through three chapters back in the library.
Well, before Adri had called her up.
To be honest, he gave her the confidence boost that she needed at that time to pursue that dream that no one else wanted her to take. Literally everyone advised her against it, apart from him. That's probably why she always came to the library, obviously to read, but half the time the books she read, and actually enjoyed, were his recommendations. He was patient enough to listen to her stupid ramblings about nothing, and he took a huge interest in her. Why? Timburu had no clue; maybe because she was as special as she said she was. That fed into her ego, of course, but it was still a serious question. And especially today, when he actually supported her with what she wanted to be and even looked like he had something in place... strange.
"Timi, you've been sitting in that spot for ages. Hurry up!" Minnu called from the base of the hill. Timburu looked at her sister, waving from below. She looked like a blob of a once-human from a far distance. Timburu decided to tick her off a little and stay put at the top of the hill. When she saw her sister turn around and leave without her, she yelled and took off in a running start down the hill.
There are loads of questions that don't have answers to it. There are some questions that don't need answers to it. Why the Onyx Library was built atop a hill was not known to Timburu at all, but she knew there was definitely a reason. I'll find a book about that the next time I come here, she thought, heaving for air after running to try and desperately keep up her sister. She was fast, sure, but Minnu was faster, and was well in the forest by the time Timburu had reached the base of the hill. The afternoon was fading into evening, the sky tinged with a tint of darkness. Where was her sister? Probably the other side of that forest.
She huffed, withdrawing through the trees, kicking up leaves and twigs that were in her way. She liked forests. She liked the company of trees and the silence that lay between them was so much more different to silence anywhere else. If possible, she would stay here for a longer time, but her sister would probably be waiting on the other side for her, and she loved to relentlessly tease her about how late she was.
When she made it out at long last, her sister was waiting impatiently on the other side, like she expected, tapping her foot. Timburu groaned, rolling her eyes and trudging past her.
"Not even an apology for making me wait on you? The pettiness!" Minnu said, pacing until she slowed down to the same speed as her. There was something she wanted to ask her, and now was a better time to do it than never.
"Timi?"
"Mmm?" Timburu replied, looking at her.
"What did he ask you about?"
"Who?"
"Mr. Adriel. Back at the Library. When he called you up? Yeah what was that about?"
Timburu stayed quiet for a bit, mentally debating whether or not to tell the truth, bend it a little bit, or bluff the whole thing and hope she believed it. Then again, there wasn't really anything that could get her worked up enough to make sure she doesn't do anything rash, so she shrugged.
"He told me about what you said," she replied, shoving Minnu playfully, "About the demi-god thing. He told me he liked the idea-"
"Yeah, he told me that too."
"-And that he believes I can really be-" Timburu paused, sharperning her gaze slightly in her sister, "He told you that?"
"Well... he never disagreed with me when I brought it up, and he said he has faith in you, and he showed a bit of interest when I was talking about it," Minnu said hurriedly, "And then he changed the topic to your opinion on the regīi. And he was still interested in that. He's a hard person to read."
