"Where's the shaduf lever?" Marion twisted, hanging in mid air.

The shaduf, an ancient irrigation device which worked like a weighted lever would have helped open the sluice gates of the canal gate locks to help float out the rafts filled with debris or finely cut stone. In this case - the whoosh of incoming water would help her pull the obelisk away from her husband and child.

The whip's anchor in the ceiling shifted.

Marion looked up. Darkness.

Below her... churning waters of darkness.

Across from her - the meager lantern light and a small beam of light from her compact mirror.

Indy's voice echoed in her memories. "C'mon, Marion. I trust your instincts." She had been trained by Abner Ravenwood... one of the most respected Egyptologists of his era. And she'd ended up married to glorified rouge tomb raider and treasure hunter, Indiana Jones.

She grinned. It was worth it. Two daughters proved it. And she wanted them and her crazy husband home safe.

Marion kicked off the wall and swung on the whip. She swung careening into the darkest corner of the ancient chamber. Something thick and rough twisted around her.

"Rope! Shaduf rope?!"

The whip's anchor broke and splashed. Marion stuffed the whip handle into her husband's gun belt. She grabbed the ancient rope, and felt it dip with her weight. Her gloves ripped, but she hung on.

There was a rush of water entering the chamber.

She pulled the rope connected to the obelisk - hearing a catastrophic splash.
