Senior year

As cliche as this is, I've been waiting for my senior year my whole life. It's everything I've worked towards, leading up to gaining the scholarship of my dreams.

My father, who was my best friend, passed away when I was just starting high school. I was always great at school, but once I learned that he had won the biggest scholarship in the country that not only paid his whole tuition but also gave him plenty of cash left over, I had no doubt in my mind that I was going to do exactly what my father had done and make him proud.

My drive to succeed and gain that scholarship had only grown even more once he passed away. I refuse to disappoint him and give up the dream he had for me before I was even born.

I'm immediately snapped out of my thoughts when I hear the bell ring. I know i wasn't paying attention, but this class was just another credit that i needed to impress other schools by taking much more classes than I needed.

I grab my bag and head straight towards the cafeteria, not even bothering to stop by my locker to put my books away. I'm way too hungry.

I see my group of friends right and walk towards them.

"REIGNNNNN!" Stephanie shouts as soon as I reach the table.

"STEPHHHH!" I respond, giving her the same energy.

My friend group consists of me, Steph, Alec, Sierra, Josh, and Theo...

We all grew up together and are together all the time. Steph and Sierra are who I trust more than anyone in this world; they're the perfect best friends. Josh and Alec act like typical teenage boys but are incredibly good friends to each of us. Theo... he's the only very high threat to my chances of winning the scholarship. As much as I hate to admit it, he's very smart, and his grades and academic drive are just as high as mine. This is why we argue so often...

"Reign fell asleep in class on the first day of school... Be careful, that means I'm a step ahead of you already." That annoying voice says.

"Shut up Theo. I wasn't sleeping, I was just thinking." I respond even though it doesn't make me look any better.

"On a different topic... do you guys understand how many parties are going on this year? Someone sent me a list of parties that people have decided to throw throughout the year. And those don't even include the spantaneous ones that will definitely happen." Josh says.

I just roll my eyes and laugh. I'm not going to act like I won't end up going to each of those parties. I love making memories with my friends.

The rest of my friends laugh along and talk about the first day of school gossip. Who hooked up with who over the summer? Who broke up during the summer? Who's official after the summer? Who got ugly or hot? The usual.

And after lunch, the rest of the school day went by fast and was boring. Until the end of the day, when I was in need of a drive home...
