Kayn x Reader - Embrace of Shadows

You, a mage, are slowly walking through the dense forest. The air, thick with the intoxicating perfume of pine and earth with nothing else around, only you and trees in your sight. You have been sent for patrolling the area of Demacia. The only enjoyable part of it is that you get to spend time with your friend - Lux, who now went into another part of the forest.

A few meters into your walk, you see a tree log lying on the ground and you decide to sit down and rest a bit. In the hush of rustling leaves and bird songs, a subtle disruption creeps into your ear from behind. You glance over your left shoulder, but see nothing. "A squirrel" you think and rest your elbows on your thighs, with chin put on palms. Just a few seconds later, unidentified noises reappear, but this time you can hear them all around. You stand up immediately, your body straightened. All that you can hear now, re the echoes of branches cracking under the weighed of an undetected being, revealing someone sneaking through the shadows.

- Lux? – you scream into the void, getting no reply, what makes a chill go down your spine. The noises keep encircling you, becoming louder and more frequent. - Show yourself or you'll regret it! – you scream once again, trying to sound confident.

From the shadows of the forest emerges a mysterious humanoid figure, face still covered as the sun isn't able to reach his face or body. Your eyes widen in concern, the stranger starts walking briskly towards you, making you step back and lift your hand up in front of you.

- Stay there – you shout in high-pitched voice.

- Or I will regret it? – says the stranger, whom now you can identify as a young man. He continues moving forward, ignoring what you had just said.

- I said don't move! – you repeat yourself, this time more confidently, you lift your chin, push your shoulders back. – You're not allowed to be here. You'll go with me now, turn around and move your hands back – you order, undeterred by his dismissive gaze, you still keep your palm open in front of you.

The man's smirk widens, an air of amusement lingering around him. He casts a mocking gaze on you, sneering at the sight of the fear flooding your face.

- You think you can command the shadow, little witch? – he taunts, his tone dripping with arrogance.

The unknown man keeps on moving towards you, as you are slowly losing your inner strength and confidence. You know you need to protect yourself, the man doesn't seem to have good intentions. Sensing the impending threat, you summon the might of your magical power, creating a strong gust of wind which you then force forward against the emerging stranger.

To your surprise, the man sleekly sidesteps as if guided by unseen intuition, swiftly dodging the magical strike, soundlessly appearing right behind you with a corner of his mouth lifts in a chilling smirk. Frightening thoughts race through your mind as you bend your arm, ready to push him back fiercely. To your dismay, your arm stops abruptly, caught in the firm grip of the man's palm. All your actions predicted as if every though of yours was transparent.

- What will you do now, little mage? – he murmurs, the mocking tone evident in his voice. You remain rooted to the ground, a mixture of fear and confusion paralyzing you. - Okay, since your temper has already subsided and you started to notice in what position you are, it's time to teach you some lessons – he declares, his tone firm and commanding. He proceeds to bend your arms behind your back, rendering your defenceless. As he does so, he imparts his first lesson. – Lesson number one, – he murmurs, his hand running through your hair. Suddenly, he clenches his fist and pushes your head back, your ear next to his mouth. – Don't wander around the forest alone after dusk. Not everyone is as polite as I am.

His words send a shiver down your spine, a cold realisation that you are at the mercy of this mysterious and powerful figure.

- Lu... – you try to call for your friend, but your attempt is cut short as the stranger swiftly overs your mouth with his hand, preventing any sound escaping.
