The wind blew heavily in the mountains. Often causing the Voltaris to stay inside, keeping the warmth of the fire trapped in, their bodies pressed tightly against each other. But when that fire went out it was cold and silent. Only the sound of the dreadful snow could be heard outside and the light of hundreds of red markings shining. That was until one day.

It was strange to see someone staggering up the mountain towards the place Addy would have called Deathly and Unwanted. But here this man was, he was a Voltaris like them, yet Addy was still unsure, She didn't understand why he was here, no one but a fool would venture up into, until she saw it.

Voltar, the staff of the Voltaris, a diamond staff that signaled a Master's power over his or her clan, although female Masters were rare and the only one she knew of was the Sendaris Master. The first in centuries she had heard, and the first one to ever be more powerful than a male, or have a higher status.

She watched the male stumble up the mountain, his face tired as he planted Voltar into the snow, there were snowflakes caught in his hair, his ears were slightly purple and quivering, and his tail was wrapped around his legs. She felt bad, this was their master after all. She walked towards him with the rest of the Voltaris and got there quickly before anyone else did, resting her arm on his shoulder with the male on the opposite side of her. She felt how warm his shoulders were despite the cold, she looked towards the other male as their master wrapped his arm around her shoulder and looked at her with a smile which she exchanged then started leading him into their camp.

It wasn't a far trip, only a few minutes away, but starting the fire was the hard part. Addy let go of the male's shoulders and made her way over to start the fire as the other male set their master down, Addy grabbed her flint and steel then struck them together, causing a spark which landed on a piece of wood and started lighting it, Addy blew on it gently until it became an actual fire and started spreading to the rest of the wood, melting the snow around it before she made her way towards her assigned log, watching the children as they sat down near the fire, making sure they didn't get too close before a male voice cut out and she glanced back to find Darinous, the male which had helped her assist this male in getting to their camp, talking with him,

"Is it true? Are you now our master, Ingressus?" Darinous asked, his voice soft with disbelief. Darinous was old, old enough that he could easily remember when she was first born, first brought into this cruel existence the Voltaris called life. The other male sighed slightly.

"Yes it is true, Dominus was killed years ago and I... have made a grave mistake..." He said and lowered his head, his ears drooping slightly.

"What did you do?" A female named Marina asked, tilting her head in concern as her son ran back to her and crawled into her arms.

"I... attacked the other clans after they denied me the Prime Songs, I got three but am still missing one..." He sighed and every Voltaris exchanged concerned glances before Addy finally found the courage to speak up.

"So they'll be coming for us? We'll be going to war?" She asked, her voice was softer and quieter than she'd intended enough so that she sounded like a sheep comparing herself to a wolf. Ingressus looked towards her concerned face, her ears pressed against her head, her eyes full or worry and sighed a bit.

"I... would assume so, yes." He sighed and she looked down, she moved her tail closer to the fire as the rest of the Voltaris exchanged another worried glance before another male spoke up.

"We have a few weapons... but we are not prepared for war..." He said and looked towards their Master with worry, Ingressus looked back up at him and nodded.

"I guessed, but we can make more weapons and train others with bow and arrows, I will not fail you again." He looked between all of them as he said this and Addy knew he meant he wouldn't fail their clan again, but... he had to know that he hadn't failed them...

"We can do that later, you should rest now." One of the elderly female Voltaris cut in. Addy should have known her name as she had lived among these people for years, getting to know them and the Voltaris was an elder.

Ingressus looked slightly baffled by her words but nodded regardless.

"We can start prepping tomorrow." He said and sighed a bit then dismissed the clan, Addy started to get up and started walking away before hearing Ingressus call out to her.

"Hey," he said and she glanced back then put a finger to her chest, asking him if he was talking to her, he nodded then patted the space next to him.

She slowly walked over and sat down next to him, feeling her entire form quiver, She was in the presence of a Master after all, her Master and a male, she had always been nervous around males, they made her feel afraid of what they could do as males were physically stronger than females—Ingressus's voice interrupted her thoughts and she glanced over at the sound of his voice.

"Are you scared?" He asked and she shifted slightly.

"A bit." She said softly and wrapped her tail around her leg, it was a sign of fear, and it was plain fear, fear that probably radiated from her body at this very moment.

"It's ok, it's normal to be afraid of these things, but that isn't why I called you over here, I want to know your name." He said and she felt him brush his fingers against hers as she looked up.

"Addison, it's Addison, but my friends call me Addy." She said and watched him as he smiled gently.

"I always considered Addy a soft name, it's easy on the ears and makes males get a warm feeling inside, I know that." He said and she smiled back at him, feeling a slight blush creep up her face as she wiggled her ears slightly, trying to hide her embarrassment. Ingressus smiled then looked away for a minute,

"I was wondering if you could show me around the camp, help me get a feel for things around here and figure out how to start preparing." He said and she nodded softly.

"Though I do have to ask, why do you think the other clans would declare war upon us if it was only a simple attack?" She asked and raised her eyebrows as Ingressus looked away then got off of the log and sat down closer to the fire, resting his arm on his knee.

"I didn't just attack and take the prime songs... those three songs I have... I killed the three Masters to get them... they named me the Deathsinger because of it, I don't like the name, it makes me feel worse about what I did." He said and set the Prime songs he got down beside him as she inspected him and realized which one was missing.

"You said you only killed three, right?" She asked and Ingressus nodded, his ears bobbing more and shaking his earrings. "And those Masters were the Sendaris, Mendoris, and Kaltaris, right?"

Ingressus nodded again, confusion written all over his face as he looked back at her before she spoke again.

"So you spared a Master, the Nestoris Master in particular, the one with the Aggresium Prime, the most powerful Prime Song of the four." She said and Ingressus froze for a minute then nodded and tilted his head a bit, seeming almost hesitant. "Why?"

"Well... You see... I felt like I was in a trance, like one moment I was at the tournament and the next I was killing the Masters and innocent people like a sadistic monster." He sighed. Addy watched him, her arms rested on her knees as she waited for him to continue or tell her more about what he meant in deeper meaning. "The Prime Songs do something to you... but I still need them all and if war is what has to happen to get all of them I am willing to start a war."

He stood up and Addy looked up at him, concerned. He was willing to start an entire war over the Prime Songs. She understood that they had been used to hunt the Voltaris for years yet she found herself having doubt in the Voltaris Master. That would be a first...

"Are you sure it is right though?" She asked only to find herself being waved off by the Voltaris Master.

"Yes I am positive, and questioning it is never a good idea." He said then looked back at her, his vermillion eyes inspecting her before he spoke again.

"Can you show me around now? I feel that I won't be able to sleep without knowing how to start preparing the next morning." He said and she wiggled her ears for a minute then stood up and gestured for him to follow her. She had her insecurities but she knew better than to question the man who could possibly... save them all.
