Goodbye, but not quite.

So hey, it's me again after quite a long time. I won't chit-chat and delay what this chapter is for, so I'm skipping to the point.

I will be leaving Wattpad.

BUT

Not permanently.

As you've noticed I'm extremely inconsistent with everything and I have a habit of disappearing for months on end without much of an explanation and then suddenly returning with the same old excuse. I know that it can get on some of y'all's nerves and some of you have probably even gotten rid of my book from your list and I can't blame you. That being said, here's the true reason for my sudden disappearances.

Lack of Motivation and Content
______________________________

This is most obvious on the list. Lack of motivation. My motivation to write is very whimsical, that can be seen with my unannounced hiatus and returns. But what is the cause of my lack of motivation? It's easy really. Lack of new or 'good' writing. I mean this with the utmost respect and not to offend anyone whatsoever, however, I find that there are no new stuff on Wattpad and much less good writing. Most of the fanfictions I find have either mediocre writing or have good writing but are discontinued. This is especially the case with one-shot books.

Good books are either neglected without valid explanation or any at all, or the author of the book discontinued it for whatever reason, mostly personal. As such, there is rarely any good stuff and, in my personal opinion, I find Wattpad more an app for beginner writers. Of course, there's absolutely nothing wrong with being a beginner, that's  how we all start, but it doesn't take a genius to notice that most fanfiction works on Wattpad are mostly mediocre and sometimes even stated by the author that they are new to it all. Chapters are short and when it comes to the plot, it's often rushed (like how I did with my Bendy fic) and causes for discontinuation.

On top of that, you also have novels which largely outshine us fanfiction writers and for me, I am not interested in that type of content. I want stuff that make me feel included, content that include you going on a journey making relationships or just short stories of pure fun or fun.

As this goes on, it also means that the community dies out and is left behind in the dust and drags along any potential writers who may or may not quit. The lack of new content to inspire becomes scarce and so does the motivation for writing. So that's reason number one for my departure.

Lack of Updates = Outdated
__________________________

My good friend TheWritingWeeb17 and I have both had this discussion as well and even he agreed that Wattpad is in a way getting old. And I quote "Wattpad needs a renaissance update. A deep clean." (Roughly quoted) I 100% agree with what he had said. For me (and perhaps most of writers), I have issues when it comes to writing and saving my chapters. Most of the time I'd have the "something went wrong while saving" message appear and it's quite annoying when you have to exit the app, reopen it just to have it work. Keep in mind that I work on mobile, not pc. Another problem I have is when it comes to copy and pasting long or even short paragraphs. Whenever I try this, I get kicked out of the app and absolutely none of what I posted ever even gets saved. It's annoying because you think you've already gotten a back up just in case and boom, you're hit with that.

I personally find all of this really annoying and quite demotivating. It effects my 'will' to write because it gets annoying. At one point you'll look at it and say "man this is why I don't write anymore". As I'm writing this, the exact thing is happening and only proves my point even more so. I also have problems with the lack of options in writing.
