Rise of the Snakes: Charlie's Story

Day of The Great Devourer

Charlie watched in horror as the Great Devourer rose from the earth.

"You must do everything in your power to stop the Great Devourer. Go, ninja, go!" Wu told the ninja before the Devourer swallowed him and Pythor.

"UNCLE WU!!" Charlie screamed. Hot tears ran down her cheeks at the loss of the man who raised her. Her scream attracted the attention of the giant snake, who's eyes stared with malicious intent.

"No." Jay squeaked. "Oh, maybe if we stand perfectly still..."

"Run!" Kai yelled as the ninja fled.

Jay tripped and ran behind them. "Wait! Wait for me!"

They reached the Bounty and Nya set to work with Lloyd.

"Fire up the engines." She ordered. "I said fire up the engines!"

"There's no wind." Lloyd panicked. "And we only have reserved fuel."

"Use it." Nya fired up the Bounty.

"Uh, hate to tell you this," Jay said as the Devourer rose. "But objects in the mirror are closer than they appear."

"Working on it. Blasters on full." Nya piloted the Bounty, speeding away and leaving the City of Ouroboros in the dust.

"Whoo-hoo!" Kai cheered. "Take that, you stupid snake."

The Devourer chased after them, practically nipping at their heels.

"Uh, I think it heard you." Jay said.

"Nya, we gotta go faster. That thing is gaining on us." The Red Ninja told his sister.

"We're going as fast as we can." She told him. "I'll try to make it to Scattered Canyon."

"The probability of us making it that far is less than 8 percent." Zane informed.

"Never tell me the odds!" Nya yelled.

"It's coming in for another attack." Cole warned. "Port side."

"We're losing speed." Lloyd said. "We'll drop to the ground pretty soon."

"Throw everything overboard." Nya ordered.

"What?" The ninja asked.

"We need to lose some weight."

"Port side!" Lloyd yelled as the ninja begain throwing things overboard. The Devourer just ate the stuff like it was nothing.

"Man, he sure is hungry." Jay noted. "Does anyone else think the Devourer looks bigger than it did before?"

"The more it consumes, the bigger it gets." Charlie gasped. "Don't throw anything else overboard."

"Phew. We made it to Scattered Canyon." Nya said with a sigh of relief.

"Ah, we lost him." Cole said just as relieved.

Suddenly, there was a great shudder as the Devourer bit off one of the engines.

"Abandon ship!" Nya cried as she jumped off in her mech.

"Goodbye, old friend." Zane said sadly as the ninja left.

They landed in a small rock surface with and overhang. Charlie checked Lloyd for injuries before turning just in time to see the Devourer swallow the Bounty.

"No!" The ninja screamed.

"Unh, it's gone." Cole said sadly as he took Charlie's hand.

"Oh, that was too intense." Kai leaned against a wall. "All that action makes you so thirsty."
