"So you're a scientist- that's cool but like what do you do exactly?" Leaning onto the table with your elbow you stared down the man. After having pulled Gofsef back up, with the help of everyone- it seemed as though the tension from before had dissolved.
Currently everyone had moved back into the diner, yourself and Meryl seated at a table alongside the duo- the ebony haired reporter quickly writing down any answers that were given in her notebook uttering her own questions here and there.
"I create things."
Watching the interaction between the four of you from the doorway Vash let out a gently hum, eyes lingering across where you sat before tuning in place to begging heading out. His bag was slung over his shoulder and despite the little voice in the back of his head trying to convince him to stay, he ignored it.
Passing by a corner the blond halted at the smell of smoke, the older man leaning against the wall being the cause of the smell as Roberto took a long drag before speaking. "Not even a goodbye? They'll miss you and (Y/N) will surely have your head this time." Musing that out he took another puff.
"I don't like overstaying and (Y/N)'ll understand."
"No, that's not it. You couldn't stay in one place for long even if you wanted to and you're scared of those around you getting hurt." Dropping the cigarette the man's boot crushed the bud putting out the small embers. Seeing the blond turn to face him Roberto mused out once again, "Just who are you running from?"
"Well wait, you told me his name this morning. Millions Knives."
Staring down one another, neither were able to speak as a loud scream tore through the diner.
Pushing open the front doors Vash and Roberto both assessed the situation; everyone seemed to have gathered by the front doors, attentions fixed on some sort of cube like devices that crawled around attaching themselves to Gofsef.
"What's going on?"
"Those things came out of nowhere and started crawling around." Answering Robertos question you raised a hand pointing towards the things in question. The devices seemingly attaching themselves to the bio-human, the bright blue cubes that sat on top of each device shifted in hue becoming a luminescent red.
A loud beeping began to omit from the devices during this time, Gofsef-seemingly knowing what it meant, ran towards the diners entrance hastily throwing himself out.
The beeping grew louder and faster till eventually the lights became too much, Gofsef along with the mysterious devices exploded infront of the establishment. A tense silence following instantly after as what appeared to have been another threat came out of nowhere.
Hystaria quickly followed the explosion, people rushing out the establishments front doors in a stampede making their way into a more open area.
"Are you okay? Is everyone okay?" Knowing that Vash was handling those in the back you began questioning those upfront, passing by each person to make sure they had made it out of the scuffle.
Casting your gaze around you held your breath as the sudden appearance of more of those devices, the spider like things quickly crawling up anything in their path locking in place once it climbed a person.
Panicking as one stuck itself to your shoulder you frantically tried to pull it off, heart hammering against the inside of your chest as it didn't even yield an inch. "They won't come off!" Yourself the the blond seemingly shouted around the same time, the man trying to pry a red one off one of the townsfolk only to fail.
"You shouldn't mess with them!" Shouting out from where he stood Roberto began to explain what he knew, the new information leaving you stunned. "This design,, it has to be the work of E.G. Bomber. Nobody else makes anything like this. An amature won't be able to dismantle it."
The blue cubes attached to the man Vash had been helping became a bright red, the guy quickly pushing anyone asie to bolt away from the crowd where he turned into a cloud of flames.
"E.G. Bomber?"
"His real name is Ethan Gilbert Hamilton. He takes lives so easily that he earned himself the nickname 'Easy bomber'. Worst bomb maniac ever." Roberto rubbed the back of his neck while explaining, a dissatisfied huff leaving him right after.
Scoffing at the answer you made one last tug to the device practically glued to you. "What would someone like that even want with this town?"
"Who knows."
Not liking the answer Rosa clutched her son close. "How are we supposed to stop them? How are we supposed to survive?"
"We'll have to ask the bomber himself how to disable these. Assuming that there is a way." Uncertain was the tone he used, an uncertainty for whether or not there was a change of deactivatiing the dozens of bombs currently threatening the group.
Casting his gaze around Vash curled his hands into firsts, "Then I'll find him and capture him. At any rate, don't lose heart."
"But where is he?" Bringing up a good question Meryl's gaze focused on the determined expression Vash had, her hands folding across her lap.
"I think that's something Roberto might know." Piping up from where you were you raised a hand motioning towards the brunette, his expression told you that you were right with your assumption.
"He's the type that likes ti watch their "work" play out."
Pressing a hand against your chin you pursed your lips in thought, eyes beginning to trail across the buildings until something popped into your head. "Vash." Calling the blonds name you jutted your head up towards where a small windmill was, the blond almost instantly understanding the implication as a bullet was loaded into the barrel of his weapon, firing just as urgently.
A figure had risin from the ground where he shot, quickly and recklessly running down the building where you all followed- halting once someone triggered an explosion from within the sand; landmines to be exact.
"When the hell did he have the time to set all of this up?!"
"It doesn't matter when- what matters is that they're everywhere." With a cackle the person responsible for the bombs picked at the sand infront of him, lips curled back in a deranged smile. "And I don't go by E.G. bomber anymore- I've been reborn."
Rising up, the sand infront of him shot up into a cloud, rows of metal teeth beginning to rise up gradually creating the shape of a giant hamster wheel- which he'd crawled into seating himself within the middle of it.
"E.G. the Mine...That's my new name!"
"Now then, where's the treasure?" The walls of the 'wheel' closed in after he questioned that, the outside of it rotating at a rapid rate causing the whole thing to roll forward kicking up sand as it did so.
Drawing a blank at what treasure he was talking about your gaze snapped to the side meeting with Vash's, a nonverbal conclusion quickly sparking up as you understood what it meant.
E.G. was after the plant.
