Prologue
Prom Night :)
“Liz! Thank God I finally found you! Stop stuffing cake in your mouth and get your ass over to the dance floor! Christian’s looking for you!”. Mia said excitedly running towards my table.
My breath hiccupped when I heard what she said. I completely froze with my mouth still stuffed with cake I’ve been eating. I swallowed. Not knowing what to do, I stood up and gave Mia a surprised but nervous look. “Let’s go! Don’t want to keep Christian waiting don’t we?” Mia grabbed my hand and started dragging me through the crowd of people.
We stopped and Mia took a quick glance at me. “Um. Liz? You got a little uh...” Mia said while wiping off some cake frosting off my upper lip. “There you go! Now let’s go take you to Chris…” Mia froze. I looked behind me and I saw him. Copper haired, brown-eyed… Christian Dawson. All I could think about right now is how handsome he looks in his suit. I’ve never seen him so formal before. Who would’ve though that this creature created by the gods would be asking me to dance with him, on prom night.
He’s holding out his hand to me, as I shyly take it he drags me gracefully through the dance floor and leads us to an open spot for us to dance freely. The DJ started to play ‘Baby blue eyes by A Rocket to the Moon’ which is a slow romantic dance. Christian put his hand to my back, and I slid into his arms.
Dancing with him was a bad idea. How am I supposed to get over him if I kept putting myself in close proximity to him? But there is still no way I’m passing up this opportunity to be in his arms.
Even if it was only for a few minutes. A few glorious, amazing minutes.
“Enjoying the view?” Christian said playfully. I hadn’t noticed I was staring at him. It’s just that…he’s so… “You’re so beautiful right now Elizabeth Hamilton” My thought’s were distracted by him. I had no idea what I’m supposed to say. “You too Christian, I mean handsome! Not beautiful!” Ugh. Well, that’s my usual awkward self, so much for the romantic moment. “You’re funny, I like funny girls” Christian chuckles as he spins me around still not losing his gracefulness.
“Um, Christian?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you like me?”
“Of course I do, who wouldn’t like such an amazing girl like you Elizabeth.” He grins.
“No, I mean, do you…um…like-like me?”
“What do you mean?” he swings me around playfully.
“You know what I mean Christian. I’m…uh…asking you if you…um…have feelings for me.”
Christian stops dancing.
Reaching up, he caresses my cheek, running his long fingers down to my chin, which he grasps between his thumb and forefinger.
“Elizabeth, you’re a very beautiful and amazing girl and…”
“Christian, you haven’t answered my question” I shake my head, Christian removes his hand from my chin and puts it in his pockets.
“Elizabeth, listen. I like you. But. I only see you as a friend. I’m really sorry but…”
“No. It’s okay! I wasn’t really expecting you to have feelings for me. So. Yeah! I’m fine.” I said while smiling. I felt like bursting into tears. Truth be told, I actually expected. And after he said that. It hurt. So bad.
He kissed my hand and gave me a grin, and I smiled back at him as the song ended.
“Thanks for the dance.”
“My Pleasure.”
