The Self-Preservation Society Part 1

Homelander left that night sometime after I had fallen asleep. I briefly awoke to him putting me in bed and covering me with the duvet. I proceeded to sleep like a baby.

I open my eyes and sit up in bed, I stretch, cracking my bones and let out an ear-piercing scream.

Homelander is standing at the bottom of my bed!!

"I didn't mean to scare you~" He freaking chuckles!

I throw a pillow at him and glare. "You didn't mean to scare me?! What did you think was going to happen??" I'm a little grumpy I mean I did just wake up.

He catches the pillow and tosses it on the bed. "I...Thought you'd be happy to wake up to me~ I mean you slept like a baby in my arms, That was adorable by the way" He purrs and sits on the edge of the bed beside me.

"And I would have been...had I been expecting you there. I felt you leave..." I smooth down my hair a bit.

He gently pets my hair "I'm sorry for the scare. I want you to come to a Seven meeting with me today. I want to introduce you to everyone. Please?" He asks making my eyes widen "Y-You want me to meet your team?" I ask completely shocked.

He gives me that damn charming smile "I really...really do~" He gets up off the bed. "Get fixed up and dressed. You can eat at the tower" He goes and stands over by the balcony door.

I get up and rush around getting everything done. I get dressed in black skinny jeans, an off-the-shoulder top with some lace details, and black wedge boots. I brush my hair leaving it down.

"I'm ready" I walk over to him, he turns and looks me over hungrily before swooping me up into his arms.

"That's my good girl~" He kisses my nose before taking off into the air.

We got to the tower within seconds. He carried me up to the Seven meeting room and gently sits me down. I look around noticing Maeve, Starlight, and Noir sitting already, I give them all a polite smile.

"Go sit beside Noir for me" Homelander coos and pats my head...like a dog? I feel like this was a bad idea. I nod and go sit beside Noir.

Noir looks at me and bows his head in acknowledgment. I smile at him and fiddle with my sleeves as we wait.

I mostly sat quietly and avoided looking at Homelander and the others while we waited for A-Train.

After a little bit of time passes he walks in and notices everyone "What's going on?" He asks looking at me? "I missed you guys" Homelander says walking up behind him and patting his shoulder "Just wanted to see your smiling faces" A-Train practically flinches "Take a seat buddy" Homelander smiles and looks around at all of us. I feel...Uncomfortable...

Homelander stands with his hands behind his back "And truth be known, I felt like we were overdue a little heart-to-heart" He walks closer to the table as A-Train sits between Starlight and Maeve. Homelander continues "A rap session maybe a little tough love" He looks to Maeve as she scoffs "What's that supposed to mean?" She asks making Homelander sigh. "It means that lately some of you have been...eh a little out of sorts. Erratic.Unreliable. Downright sloppy. Not you Noir, You've been great" He points to Noiry and I see him perk up a bit "But the rest of you..." He clicks his tongue a few times and I'm still confused why I'm here.

"It is fair to say that I am disappointed. Got to keep your eye on the ball guys. The enemies are storming the gates. I mean we're not even The Seven anymore, We're down to five" He puts his hand on the back of my chair making me jump a bit "We're dropping like fucking flies, But at least now I know why" He pushes a button on a remote and I look behind me...OH MY GOD! Hughie's face is on a monitor behind me. I have to use my powers to control my heartbeat right now. This is bad. Very fucking bad!

"Uh...Why? Is this a joke? Why is Hughie up there?" Starlight is as confused as everyone else is "I don't understand who is this guy?" Maeve asks.

"This guy is Hugh Campbell. He and Starlight are going steady" Homelander explains and Noir looks over at her now. I put my hands in my lap and practically dig my nails into my thighs. Noir looks at me and I listen in on him 'What's wrong? Do you know this Hugh Campbell?' He asks and I give a very small nod before replying in his mind 'H-He's my brother...' If Noir was shocked or angry I couldn't tell.

"Oh boy that little egg of yours is still scrambled huh?" Homelander asks A-Train before zooming out the picture. It shows A-Train and Hughie shaking hands "How about now?" Homelander asks "Oh shit...I know this guy" A-Train glares at the screen "Well you did smash through his girlfriend so I should hope so. Robin something or other" Homelander keeps his eyes focused on Starlight and it's taking a lot for me to not just leave...

"I remember now. I-I've seen him outside of Popclaw's place. He was all in my face. Your fucking this guy?!" A-Train yells at Starlight.

"OK slow down, I don't know what's going on but Hughie is not capable of anything close to this" Starlight is close to tears.

"Well, that is true actually. That's very true. He is just a man and by the looks of it not much of one" He chuckles making me stand up the chair rolling back "Why am I here? I think it's about time you tell me Homelander" I snap and he slowly looks at me. "Are you going to make me say it or shall we stop acting like the little airhead?" He glows his eyes at me and I freeze. "Out. With. It." He orders his voice deeper than usual.

I whimper and rub my arms "My name is Raven Campbell. Hughie is my brother..." A tear falls down my cheek. Noir suddenly gets up and grabs me by the throat making my eyes fly open in shock. He lays me on the table firmly keeping his hand on my throat. So he was upset??

Homelander laughs "Now that is why he's my favorite. Noir be a dear and take her to my room. Stay there with her for me? I'll be up soon" I whimper and yelp as Noir suddenly throws me over his shoulder and walks out. I start beating on his back and struggling.

Within a few minutes he carries me into the penthouse and tosses me down on the sofa. I whimper and pull my knees to my chest. He locks the door and then walks over to me. He kneels down and gently reaches his hand out cupping my cheek. I look at him crying now and listen in as he strokes my cheek 'I'm sorry I scared you...I had to make it believable...Your ok we can figure out a plan' He wipes the tears away and I relax a bit before nodding.

'Y-You were terrifying Noiry...Remind me to never truly piss you off I smile as his body softly shakes with a laugh.
