𓆗 CHAPTER XI - ONCE BITTEN, TWICE SHY 𓆗

• NARRATOR POV •

Nya pulled the covers off of a serpentine skeleton as she continued her lesson on them.

"Some villagers unearthed the remains of this Fangpyre a few miles away. It predates the Golden Age, and must be hundreds of years old. Although the venom in the fangs of the Fangpyre genetically mutate human cells into reptilian, I've learned there could be a way to stop the effects without having to create an antivenom." She explained, as Zane politely took notes, although just next to him Y/N was writing about his dream, Kai was bored out of his mind, Cole was drawing a picture and Jay was watching her, completely infatuated.

"If one is able to wildly raise their heart rate, hypothetically it could reverse the venom's effects.." Nya hesitated as her cheeks began to turn pink, "Resulting in...diminished, uh, excuse me, is someone wearing perfume? I'm severely allergic to perfume.."

"Heh." Jay leaned over to whisper to Kai, "You told me it was men's cologne.."

"Meh, I get them mixed up.." Kai said, causing everyone but Jay, Nya and Y/N to laugh. Kai's laughter was cut short when Y/N smacked him around the head, Zane switched his funny switch off and stood up.

"Ah, looks like class is over. Time to start stomping some Serpentine before they find any Fangblades.." Cole said, packing his drawing up.

"Sounds like a plan." Kai said, rubbing the back of his head and muttering about how Y/N was 'stronger than he looked'.

"I'm excited to join.." Zane exclaimed, as he and the others except Jay left the bridge.

Once outside, Y/N began to read over his journal. He was very confused, thoughts racking through his brain at a million miles an hour. The first event in his dream had almost completely matched Zane getting his full potential, although he was jealous he didn't get to see it due to being unconscious.

"Still festering over that dream?" Jay spoke as he walked out of the bridge, Y/N startling with a yelp at the sudden voice. He nodded, "Well. Guess who has a date.."

Y/N furrowed his brows, before smirking and lighting punching Jay's arm as a well done. Jay chuckled and smiled. Y/N's smile faltered slightly when he saw Jay's nervous look.

"C-could you help me prepare? I really want to impress her, and I now know I cannot for the life of me trust Kai." Jay asked, and Y/N's eyes widened before he smiled and nodded.

Much later, Y/N was in the Ninja's room, helping Jay prepare.

"Did I ever tell you I was the first one to learn Spinjitzu?" Jay spoke as he looked in the mirror, Y/N raising an eyebrow. "No, I mean, uh, I invented Spinjitzu. Yeah, that's it. And i invented a few other moves, like the karate double chop. Hyah!'

Jay halted when he noticed the green scales on his hand. He looked at Y/N in panic who quickly inspected it.

"No! No, no, no. The prick from the Fangpyre fang! Oh, no. This isn't happening. No, it's nothing. It's just a rash. It'll probably just go away." Jay fumbled, as Y/N sighed and ran his hand over the scales.

"Jay, if this does end up being fangpyre.. You have to be honest okay? And you have to be honest about everything else." Y/N spoke, looking his brother in the eyes.

"Right, yeah of course. Got it.." Jay said, looking at his hand in panic.

"Jay."

"Sorry.. Of course I'll be honest. Honesty is the best policy.. Now, I have a date." Jay smiled, being genuine with Y/N as he slipped his gloves on.

"You'll do great." Y/N reassured, as he and Jay made their way to the bridge of the bounty.

"Whoa, where are you going, Mr. Fancy?" Cole asked with a smirk as Y/N went to help out with the control panel.
