I looked out of my dad's limo. It was a fall morning, and my driver, Max, was driving me to my new school, Crestwood High. Some girls would give anything to be the daughter of a multimillionaire, but I would give anything to become normal. All the girls in elementary school and middle school bullied me for having red hair. And I was NOT excited to go to high school. I knew that everyone would make fun of me, just as always.

As I clutched my backpack tightly as Max pulled over to the curb. This was it. I thought to myself—high school. I hopped out of the limo and waved goodbye. I saw some people staring at me. Probably my red hair, I mumbled. I pulled my schedule from my backpack. I have Homeroom first. Then math. I hurried to the entrance of the school. Just then, I saw Amanda Verlice. She was wearing diamond-encrusted high heels with flannel leggings and a tube top. She was the most popular girl in the elementary and middle school. She was also snobby, stuck up, and arrogant.

"Hey, redhead. What are you doing?" She asked with a smirk. I ignored her. She is ALWAYS like that. The best way is to say nothing and she'll eventually leave you alone.

"Are you too shy, or just STUPID?" She said nastily, rolling her eyes and putting a 10th layer of lip gloss. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE lip gloss. Just not mean and braggart girls who slather on SO much lip gloss that I think it leaks into their brains.

"Whatever. I've got to see my friends. Toodles!" She said as she walked over to Megan and Mackenzie. They were all wearing miniskirts with a designer bag. They all look like enlarged Barbies. Sigh. Only if I could be like that. I watched as they flipped their blonde hair and walked into the school like models. I walked into the school too. Hmm. I Looked down at my schedule again. I needed to go to Mr. Oscar Semasko's class 246 in 2 minutes. I hurried down the hall. 344. 241. Aha! 264. I push the door slowly. I see a man with a that has brown hair. He welcomes me into the class.

"Hello! My name is Oscar. You can call me Oz. Now please pick a seat and take out your notebook. We will start the class in just a bit." I chuckled. I picked a seat near the front. I am a very excellent student, so I always sit in the front

"Hey, Brienne." My best and only friend, Amelia said.

"Hi! I'm really happy that we're in the same class!" I squealed.

"Me too!" Amelia replied, with a big grin on her face. Before we could talk anymore, Mr. Oskar Semasko came in.

"Students, settle down. Today, we are going to talk about lockers and have a quick tour of our school. We have much to do, and only 40 minutes." Mr. Oscar said, cheerfully. I have a feeling that this class is going to be very quick.

"I am going to pass out envelopes for each of you. Inside, you will find a paper slip that has your locker numbers and combinations in there. In a few minutes, we will go outside to practice opening our lockers." Mr. Oscar announced. I opened my envelope. On the paper, it says in bold, black letters that my locker number is 53, and my combination is 7645894. I pull out the papers and put the envelope on my desk. I see Amanda Verlice look over at me. Then, she wrote down something. Probably a note for Mackenzie or Megan.

"Okay, let's go outside. Line up when I call your name." Mr. Oscar said. When I get called, I notice that in front of me is a black-haired girl with pretty eyes. I smile at her.She smiles back. We walk outside into the hallways.

We stop at the end of the hallway. "Here are your lockers. They are all here. Go ahead and practice opening your lockers. Let's also play a little game. Whoever gets their locker open the first can get a prize from me." Mr. Oscar announced. I hear a few boys snickering. I also see Amanda, Mackenzie, and Megan rolling their eyes. I want to win that prize. I need to win. I see my locker, and I rush to it immediately.

"3 2 1 go!" Mr. Oscar whisper-yelled at us since we couldn't talk loudly in the hallway. I enter my combination. Then, I squeeze, and pop!My locker opened.

"Yay! I did it!" I shouted a little too loudly. Mr. Oscar motioned me to quiet down, but I could see that he was happy.

"Brienne, nice job! Meet me at my desk after class for the prize." He said. Amanda rolled her eyes so hard that I think they could pop out, and put another layer of lip gloss. Ugh! I hate her! "Now, we are going to have a tour of the school. I know most of you guys went to Crestwood Middle School and Elementary School, so this is pretty familiar. But for the people who didn't, this is a big school, and you could get lost! So pay attention!" Mr. Oscar announced. "Now, line up, and follow me!"

And with a blink of my eyes, the students were all lined up.Except for the black-haired girl. And of course, ME. I quickly lined up after the black-haired girl.

I did a quick smile, and said, "So, what do you have after this class?" She seemed friendly and replied.

"I have P.E. I HATE P.E. But my mom said that I need to keep in shape." The black-haired girl said. "By the way, my name is Sophie. My mom is a model, so she wants ME to be one too. She's obsessed about the gym, and goes to the spa EVERY DAY!"

"OMG! That sounds so awful! But do you live in a big, clean, mansion?" I joked.

"Welp, we do. But my mom is away for most of the time, so I have maids to help me." Sophie responded.

"I live in a mansion too. But it is all old and dusty. My dad keeps saying that we should clean it ourselves instead of paying maids. He's all about the money thing. But he never even cleans it himself!" I said and laughed.

Sophie laughed too. Could this be the start of a new friendship? I suddenly see Amelia looking at me, and when I look back, she makes an ugly face like I'm a big booger or something. I cringe. Why is Amelia looking at me like this?

When we got to the second hallway, Mr. Oscar said, "This is our cafeteria."

I grabbed my schedule from my pocket and saw that my lunch was at noon. Perfect! I muttered. I love it when everything is just right. I look around again. This school is very beautiful, compared to my last school. I hadn't seen the office yet, since I was in a big rush in the morning, but it looked super GLAM. Not just glam, but also attractive, pretty, good-looking, nice-looking, pleasing, Lovely, charming, delightful, gorgeous, heavenly, stunning, glamorous, irresistible, graceful, elegant, exquisite, decorative, magnificent, and DROP DEAD GEORGEOUS. The room was decorated, and on each desk, there were JARS of candy. Kit Kats, skittles, Lollipops, and even my favorite, Gummy bears! Squeea! I wonder how I can get them. When we passed by, Mrs. Betty, our principal, waved at us from the office and also winked at me. She also has red hair. Last year, she was the principal of my middle school, Hazen Middle School. I feel like I can tell her everything. Last year, I told her about Amanda Verlice and told her to not tell anyone. She agreed.

"This is the 7th and 8th grade area, so we do not need to see it." Mr. Oscar said, interrupting my thoughts.

Just then, the bell rang. "Now, head to your classes." Mr. Oscar said, smiling, and slowly walking back to the classroom.

"Thank you!" I said quietly, and with a nod and a grin, I left, heading to math. I take out my lip gloss when suddenly, Amelia races up with me.

"What were you doing with that girl?" She jerked her thumb at Sophie."

Oh, just a new friend," I said, quietly.

"Aren't you MY friend? Why do you need HER?" She said, seeming very mad, sad, and confused."

Oh, she's just nice, and good company," I said, fighting back tears, and looking at my new sneakers.

"Am I not company? DoI need to do any more?" And with one last glance, she went off, running. Why is she like this? It's not like I haven't had any friends before. Why is she so mean to Sophie? I drop my lip gloss, and run to the bathroom, crying all the way.
