I don't know how I'll manage in this new school, especially with only three months left until the final exam of class ten. Due to my dad's job, we had to move to this city, and I don't know anyone here. I miss my old friends, especially Yoongi. He advised me to be straightforward and not let anyone bully me.
I decided to keep myself aside from the whole class for now, with the plan to try to connect with others starting next year.
Filled with hope, I embarked on my first day of school.
"Hello, students. Let me introduce Kim Namjoon. He has an excellent academic record, and I hope he will quickly adapt and perform well in the final exams. I also trust that you all will help him," our class teacher announced.
Feeling a slight sweat on my body as more than 20 pairs of eyes fixated on me, I bowed and said, "Hello, I hope you all accept me as a good friend. Thank you."
Our class teacher directed me to a seat, but the silent shuffling and covering of empty seats made it clear that I was an outsider.
As always, the only seat left was at the back, on the last bench. Being accustomed to sitting at the front, it felt odd, but I had to manage. When I approached the bench, a sense of unease washed over me.
There she was—a girl with a wolf cut, slight undercut, and multiple piercing holes on her ear. I hadn't expected the school to allow such a hairstyle.
I whispered to her, "Can I sit here?" She looked at me with indifferent eyes and then turned her head, saying, "Hey, do you have any problem if he sits on your lap?" addressing the empty space beside her. Moments later, she looked back at me and added, "I guess she says no problem."
Embarrassment overwhelmed me. I could feel my cheeks burning with shame, but social etiquette dictated that I take the seat beside a girl.
The entire class proceeded smoothly, but if anything attracted or distracted me that was her drawing skills. Even with a pen, she effortlessly brought to life the intricate details of a male anime character on the last page of her notebook. I am sure, she loves to add details on eyes, as every stroke and line seemed to reflect her passion for the art form.
I really wanted to start the conversation, but two things were stopping me -- our first small piece of convo and her appearance somehow scary.
Just after the ring of bell, she went out with her small leather bag. I looked around the whole classroom, everyone was so busy with their friends to eat tiffin, my introvert self couldn't come up with any words. When I went out to the room, I was grinning to everyone, just expecting some warm welcome, but everyone turned their head.
Frankly speaking, I was missing my gang too much, that I didn't feel any appetite. I decided to go the library until I didn't bump with the so-called dangerous gang of the school.
I instantly utter sorry, and thought to continue my steps, but instantly fell on my bump as one girl pulled me from behind grabbing my shirt collar. I tried to stand up while correcting my glasses, but those five girls were created a round around me.
One sat in front of me while chewing gum, "So this nerdy is newcomer." Another one just sat and created a mess on my perfect set hair "So, boy, we got complain, you are planning to impress teachers with your scores." "That even very first day!!" "What if we break your right hand?" "Uwwuu, or what if we broke your this round round glasses, at the day of exam?"
I felt so nervous when one girl started to mess up with my shirt.
"Hey, leave him alone", the single raised voice just made them frozen in their positions. I put my bag close to my chest and wanted to escape from the place as soon as possible.
