The cottage

Finally

It was pouring, the clouds were as black as the coal itself. A distant thunder could be heard, illuminating the cottage for a couple of seconds.

As she looked at the window she sighed softly. The warmth of the burning fire enveloping her whole body, sending shivers down her spine. She stretched before getting off the comfortable couch she was sitting on. She slowly walks up to her kitchen. Since she lives alone no one was there besides her cat, of course, who was currently sleeping soundlessly on its bed.

She walked up to the fridge and gently opened the fridge, looking around to decide on what to eat in this cold winter.

Suddenly, breaking the silence she was used to, a whisper was heard from behind her. She immediately tensed up as she felt her whole body tremble in fear. She slowly looked back. Her breath getting more and more laboured with each single damn breath. As she sees what was behind her eyes shot wide open and her heart starts pumping as fast as physically possible. Just then she managed to realise... It was the delivery guy, in the middle of the storm? She sighed of relief as she pinched the bridge of her nose trying to calm herself.

- Hey there, Emma right? I've got here a package for you. - They said, she gestured to come in. She signed the papers and received the package. Finally! My new eye was here. She grabbed a pair of screws and the new eye, inserting them in the eye pocket and starting screwing. As the screwdriver penetrated her skin she breathed in sharply. A mild pain goes all over her body although it vanishes as soon as she manages to start moving her new eye. She thanks the delivery man in sign language by tapping her chin and drifting her hand outwards since part of her jaw hadn't arrived yet.

Wait. Didn't you expect this? This is the year 4700. All humans are dead... Or at least the pure ones. Nowadays every human is at least part robot since, like that, we don't need that many things to survive. We don't need food, we are like some plants. We survive from the vitamins in the air.
