Hey everyone! I thought I'd share this short story I wrote on here because it is probably my favorite thing I've ever written. I used a sentence generator to come up with the idea for this story, and Before Wonderland was born. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the adventure!💕

Sentence given: He was willing to find the depths of the rabbit hole in order to be with her.

I mean, he would do anything for Alice. She was, in fact, the love of his life. Ever since Arthur met Alice at the asylum for the first time, he knew they were destined to be together, even though it's forbidden for a doctor to date a patient.

He was called one morning, so early it was just past dawn, to come down and evaluate a hysterical patient. Arthur imagined an ugly old woman, screaming and flailing, wielding a makeshift dagger at an imaginary person she claimed was there, but that was not even close to the girl he would be meeting.

He greeted the guard at the door to the maximum security ward, slightly fearful for the endeavor he was about to get himself in, but he was pleasantly surprised. When he entered the cell, he saw a young girl, no older than 16, sitting patiently in a blue dress. Her hair was a gold that shined brighter than the sun. She was petite and proper. She sat straight up as she spoke forth from her perfectly pink lips, "Hello doctor. My name is Alice."
"Hello, um, Alice," Arthur stuttered back. "Would you open your mouth for me?"

He shone a light in her mouth and her eyes. He had Alice stand up and remove her petticoat so the dress was flat against her frame.
"Do I have permission to..."
"Touch me?" She smiled, "Yes. You have my permission. I thank you for asking, though. The nurses just threw me around like an old rag doll."
Arthur put his hands under her ribs and felt around gently. Alice had no cuts or bruises, she didn't even seem to be the least bit mad. In fact, she just seemed to be a smiley girl who was wrongly committed.

"Well," Arthur said, "You seem to be in perfectly good health, and frankly, you seem completely physiologically intact."
"Oh, well yes. I am afraid I have been down this rabbit hole before. I was caught speaking to some flowers so my parents sent me to the doctor. When I told him about my tendency to see things others don't, he sent me here," she said while smoothing out her dress.

A switch turned on in Arthur's brain as he realized he wasn't speaking to a maniac, he was speaking to a girl with an overactive imagination.
"Alright, Alice. I will leave you here tonight, and tomorrow we can get started on your discharge."
Secretly, deep down, Arthur was devastated to leave the girl. Her presence was so potently sweet, he just wanted to hold her and tell her not to worry, that this place wasn't actually so bad once you get used to it.
"Thank you, doctor. You are very kind."
Arthur smiled at her gently and then left the room. As soon as he was outside Alice's cell, he had to cover his ears for the cacophony of screams and cries that pounded him was enough to make anyone go mad.

The next morning, on his way to the asylum, Arthur happened to notice a sign that read:

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson: Mathematics Lecture
Learn all about pi!

He scoffed lightly. His stupid brother was at it again, always disgracing the family name. He wasn't a doctor, he wasn't a businessman, and his income was laughable. Arthur oftentimes had to send him money to settle his debts. He hadn't seen his brother face to face in three years, despite them both living in the same city.

When Arthur finally made it to the asylum, he went straight to Alice's room. He tried not to play favorites, but he couldn't wait to see the pleasant girl whom he had met the night before. He hoped that once she was discharged, she might let him take her out for dinner one night. Sadly, she would not be leaving anytime soon because once he reached Alice's room he finally understood why they labeled her "hysteric."
