Highland Love { ON HOLD }

chapter 6

        Chapter 6 

      "Could it really be over that easy?' asked Andrew    " It appears so,  I assume it is 

because winter is not long off and he did not want so many deaths on his hands from 

starvation." replied Alexander.

 "I imagine there was a bit of fighting amongst themselves as well from lack of food." 

answered Andrew

 "There will be a meeting between Magnus and myself to finalize the details but after that 

you will be free to go home and take care of whatever it is that has you so distracted." 

Alexander knew it had to have something to do with a woman and he was happy for it. He had 

known Andrew for years and never saw him like this.

 It took another week before the terms were agreed upon and the treaty was signed. 

Alexander called a meeting with all his head commanders and let them know of the good news. 

 "At first light you are all free to go. I have my personal army that will remain with me 

to make sure Magnus leaves without any trouble. " 

 " Your majesty If there is anything you need please send word, I am only a few days ride 

away." 

 " Thank you Andrew you have always been my most loyal commander, and friend.  I hope that 

I will get word from you that a marriage will be in your future." Alexander said with a 

wink.  Andrew did not know what to say. He had not told his King about Billi yet it was like he 

knew Andrew's heart. He saw through him and knew he cared about someone. 

 Andrew could not wait to get home so he could find Billi before winter set in and he was 

unable to search for her.  At first light he was on the road home to find the woman who had 

captured his heart.

A month earlier.......

Markus was out with a hunting party to gather meat for winter when he first saw her. She 

was huddled under some bushes covered in a blood covered plaid. Her hair was a mess and she 

was filthy from head to toe. she had no shoes and her skin was bruised and cut all over. He 

rushed over to her to make sure she was even still alive. He was relieved to feel a pulse even

though it was faint, at least she was breathing, now he just had to get her home and see is she could be saved.

 He rushed through the Bailey yelling at the top of his lungs for the healer. 

 "Master Markus what is going on?"  asked Hilda the healer.

"I found her in the forest, she is nearly dead. Please you have to do something." he 

pleaded

   "Yes sir I will do everything I can." 

Markus did not know who this young girl was but he would do whatever it took to keep her 

alive and find out where she came from and what happened to her.
