Chapter 13

"So, where should we put Rain and Ple?" Payu asked Som. They were in the dining room, but soon he noticed that the table was set for three more people instead of two as Payu expected, he didn't say anything, even though he already suspected who could be at the table with them.

"Yeah right, uncle will be at the head of the table, Ple will be on his left side, followed by you and Rain, while I'll be here on the right side with Mark." Som explained calmly, but he quickly realized that the last statement irritated his loyal boyfriend. Payu didn't say anything though, he just nodded and waited for the guests to arrive.

"Rain, so you study architecture like my two beloved nephews, right?" Som's uncle asked as everyone sat at the table. Rain drank a glass of water and nodded. Since he was still drinking, Som and Ple's uncle posed one more question, asking how his studies were going.

"I'm doing my best" Rain responded, knowing that the results he was getting with his exams weren't those of the top of the class.

"That's the most important thing, Rain, to put all your efforts in what you do, no matter the result" the uncle said with a smile.

"He could do better, but he doesn't accept to let me help him. Sometimes my dear Rain is too proud and confident to accept suggestions" Ple intervened.

"I don't see why you should bring this up right now, but I assure you that I would accept your help much more easily if you avoid comparing me constantly to other people who were obviously more skilled than me" Rain responded with a clearly annoyed tone.

"Rain, I know that my sister's methods can be a little too straightforward sometimes, but I swear that she only does it to help you and push you to get the most out of you" Som added and tried to reach for Rain with his hand to calm him down.

"Her strategy clearly doesn't work... I get what you're saying, P'Som, but... nevermind" Rain stopped himself before he could get too emotional. Payu stood up and leant closer to Rain, ready to ask him to follow him to the bathroom to wash his face and cool down, but Rain angrily pushed him away and went to the bathroom by himself.

"I'll take care of him, don't worry" Payu said.

"Are you sure it is a good idea?" Som asked.

"If you go, he will think that you're just trying to justify your sister. I'm more impartial in this situation, trust me" after saying this, Payu went to the bathroom and waited outside the door. He tried to turn the door knob and noticed that it wasn't locked, he slowly opened it and found Rain by the sink, washing his face.

"I don't need the perfect boyfriend to rescue me, you can leave now" Rain said as he saw Payu's reflection in the mirror.

"Rain, please..."

"Go away! Do you know how fucking difficult it is for me to be constantly compared to you? Huh?!"
