"How has time treated you?" She ask slyly. As she sat down she pulled the lantern from off the wall, and put it close to the bars to get a better look at me.

My eyes were bagged, and my stomach flat and growling constantly with hunger. I'd been covered in dirt from sleeping on the floor, rolling around trying to get comfortable.

"It hasn't treated me at all, but thanks for asking" I scoff.

"How long has it been?" I ask

"2 weeks, you are quite resilient. I knew I was right to chose you" She replied

2 weeks? I had thought it had only been a week. Am I really going crazy.

"Honestly, this waiting game your playing wont end how your expecting it to" I say

"Ah.. a third ending I haven't expected. A plot twist even? Wouldn't that be exciting" She smiles at me, her smile is driving me even more crazy.

"Im glad you came to visit, leaving your guest alone for so long is not very host like" I say, hoping that conversation drops her guard.

I need her to bring that lantern closer, if i can break it and start a fire on the bars, the vines will burn and I can escape.

"My apologies then Ms...?"

Thats right, we had never discussed names.

"Barker, Kali Barker" I said

"You are truly a dog, Barker, an unfortunate last name, the irony that you never even bark" she replied.

"And you are?" I replied, ignoring her comments

"Cullen, Cassandra Cullen" She said, extending her arm through the bar , waiting for a hand shake.

Had she let her guard down already

I slowly got up to shake, and she quickly put her arm back out of the bar.

"Not yet, we'll shake the day you accept my offer", she brought up the lantern closer to the bars again. Examining the cage, looking across wall to wall at my drawings.

"Your an artist I see... not a very accomplished one but an artist nonetheless" she snickered,

This woman and her back handed compliments

She down on the floor, to see the mass amounts of tic tac toe I had played with myself.

"The guard complained about your constant bombardment of asking for a game, shall I fulfil your wish?" I indulged her, passed her the rock I had been using to draw the boards and pointed to the empty board closest to the bars.

"Take a closer seat" I said, pointing to the floor. Her chair was too far away for her to play.

"Its unlady like to sit on the floor, and to ruin my dress as well. You must be out of your mind" she called over to some guards and ordered them to set up two seats and a table in the middle outside the cage.

Was she going to let me out just to play a game of tic tac toe?

She took hold of the ring of keys on her hip and flipped through them slowly. Grabbed a silver key, and unlocked the cage. The cage door swung open, and I stood there, shocked. I took a step towards the her, and she held her hand out signaling me to stop. She called another guard and he came with a velvet box, presented it to her, and left. She turned around and presented the box to me. The box opened, and in it was a bedazzled leash.

No fucking way...

"I am not wearing that" I sat back down to the edge of the cage.

"If you want to get out, you'll wear it" She said, stepping closer to the entrance of the cage.

"Do you enjoy this, is this really what keeps you entertained? Kill me already" I say as I fight the urge to fight her. I know I cant in my state.

"I do, very much. I even made it shiny for you" she smiled, I couldn't help but break out in laughter. Who knew that even in the midst of torturous hunger and being locked in a room for days, my captor could make me laugh. She started laughing as well, then her face turned serious.

"I am serious, if you wish to step out, stretch your legs..." She once again stepped closer, presenting the box.

"The illusion of choice?" I smiled.

"Mmmm, yes I believe that sums this up" She picked up the collar and unlocked it, beckoning for me to come closer to her.

This is my chance. I could easily run past her, and out the door. It's unlocked. But I dont know where I am. Is that just a risk I'll have to take? I'm in a weakened state as well, with no food, will I even be able to truly fight if I must.

I slowly walked up to her, going over my options with every step. As I stood Infront of her I could see our height difference, I towered over her. I looked at her then the door.

I bent down as if I was allowing her to put it on my neck. As she reached, I quickly swiped her legs with mine, causing her to fall down. Before she touched the floor, I bolted towards the door. I pushed through the door, the force of the door knocking out the guard. Infront of me was a long hallway, with stairs leading to another door at the end. I took the  knocked out guards key, and locked the door behind me before I bolted to the next.

Before I opened that one I listened, smelled, to see if anyone was near. I was getting dizzy, I was hungry and weakened.

No one? I hope...

I quietly opened the door, and bursted out into a large throne room. To my left, staircases leading to even more I didn't want to discover. To my right, a large gate, the doors in the shape of an arch, wide open.

MY CHANCE

I bolt towards the door, however its a large distance to the exit. As I run I pass a multitude of people with similar smells of my captor, but doused in unreal amounts of blood. The smell overwhelmed me as I ran, but it was only a few more meters.

"CLOSE THE GATE", Someone yelled. Gears started creaking, chains moving, the gate was closing. I could hear the multitude of footsteps behind me, but It didn't matter. I could see the light, smell the air, it was close. The door was almost closed, but it didnt matter, I used my remaining strength to hold to door open, and squeeze through.

I was out. The cold wind beat on my skin, but it didn't matter I was out. With time to escape the forest as well. The sun was out. I walked towards the woods, dragging my feet through the snow. They were heavy, I was heavy, and my head was throbbing.

2 weeks, no food. I have a week, no, 4 days left. I used too much energy escaping. Maybe if I slept... No, I can't I need to get out of here first.

I forced my body forward through the woods. The cold cut at my skin, I couldn't feel my fingers, but I needed to leave. Before nightfall as well. As I walked, the smell of cattle lured me back. But I fought it, who knows what they have guarding those, I couldn't take the chance.

Each step I took was harder than the last, each blink became heavier as I passed.

Didn't I pass that tree an hour ago? Was I walking in circles.

A root covered by the snow snagged my foot. My body sunk into the soft snow, but never had something so cold felt so warm. The snow blanketed around me, I felt my heavy eyelids close.

One nap wont hurt

I let the exhaustion take me and let my mind finally dream.
