IT WAS KIND OF A rough morning

IT WAS KIND OF A rough morning. today was lucy's birthday. while i was getting ready, i noticed jackie looking at a photo of them together. don't get me wrong, i was close with lucy but not as close as they were.

i was the middle child, it sounds dramatic, i know, but i didn't do much other than keep my small group of friends to myself while my sisters constantly has friends over. lucy and jackie had this inseparable bond.

growing up, i always looked up to lucy. she was an amazing older sister, she looked out for jackie and i, and she was a great babysitter. while our parents were at fashion week or some place else, lucy would sneak us out to drive us around the streets of new york.

back then, i wasnt that close with jackie compared to now. i guess in the 6 month time period, we came to the realization that we only had each other.

here, in colorado, it is now my job to look over jackie and to follow our older sisters footsteps.

i go over to hug my sister, "jackie, i get it but i promise we'll get through this together."

-
"hi girls." katherine smiled, "breakfast is out on the table. oh also jackie, i left more tea bags in the cabinet."

"yo!" lee started, "since when did rowan update his style?" he pointed to the leather jacket that was practically falling off of me.

"it's not rowan's." i say, smiling slightly to isaac.

"you broke up with him?" nathan whispered, pouring more juice in his cup.

"we were never dating?" i state, shocked, "why does everyone keep saying that?"

"ohhh!" lee exclaimed, "so he has been lying."

"he?" i furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

"rowan!" isaac, lee, and nathan yelled.

"what's he lyi-"

all of a sudden, i hear fine china break. i perk my head up to look over to where jackie was and there i saw; jackie's beloved teapot that lucy gave her, completely shattered in the sink.

jackie stood there, her eyes began to tear up as she just stared at the broken, floral blue pieces. parker looked just as guilty.

"parker!" katherine exclaims, rushing over to the sink.

"it was an accident." parker says, running out.

after hearing the "it's okay" from jackie, i knew it wasn't she was just convincing herself that it was. i felt horrible especially since that was technically the only thing we had left of lucy.

-

school ended a bit ago. i was laying on my bed, flipping through the pages of my book. jackie texted me that she was gonna be late for dinner. i didnt think much of it.

i heard a knock on the door and i thought it was jackie, she's back early. "come in jacks!"

as the door swings open, i realized that it wasnt my sister, it was isaac.

"what?" i ask, sitting up and putting my bookmark inbetween the delicate pages.

isaac makes his way over to the desk and sits down on the seat, lifting the pink pillow and placing it on his lap.

"what are you doing?" i question, "get out."

he rolls his eyes at me, "why is jackie at a party."

i stiffen as my eyes go wide, "party?"

"party." he repeats.

"please," i started, "jackie doesnt do parties."

"katherine got a call that jackie wasnt in any of her classes." he states, fiddling with a hair tie that was on the desk.

"she doesnt skip class."

jackie and parties arent a good mix. same with skipping classes. she's a "sorry i need to study." kind of girl not a, "im skipping because i wanna get lit!" kind of girl.

"apparently she does." he mutters, "and shes with cole and danny, at this party."

i didnt mind if she was with danny, but with cole? cole was okay-ish, but he definitely wouldn't care if jackie got drunk. he would be to busy making out with erin.

hopefully that wasn't the case, because it would actually be a crime to my sister tipsy, literally. she's only 15 and sophomore.

"what?" i said, shocked.

he nods slowly, slingshotting the hair tie across the room.

it was silent until he stands up and reaches for the leather jacket the was at the edge of the bed.

"give me that." i stand up and grabbed it from his hands and made my way to the door.

"why?" he asked, letting it go. "where are you going?"

i put on the jacket and laced up my shoes, "im getting jackie."

"are you crazy?" isaac exclaims, blocking the door so i couldnt leave, "it's a one hour drive from here and you can't walk there."

"who said i was walking?" i smile, moving his arms away from the door.

"you can't drive either dumbass." he said, following behind me as i go down the stairs.

"rowan can." i smirk, pulling out my phone.

"we aren't driving with rowan." he hisses.

"we?" i asked, "it's just me and rowan."

"i'm coming with you." he stammered, adjusting the hood of his hoodie.

i stand there stunned as i watch isaac go to the kitchen, "hey aunt katherine, avery and i might be late for dinner, we're gonna go get stuff for a school project."

"you're not walking to the store in this kind of weather are you?" she asked, washing the dishes.

"no, rowan's driving us." isaac says flatly.

"that doesnt seem, right." katherine's eyes widen, "i thought you didn't like rowan."

he forced a smile, "we're mending bonds."
