"My story has always been one of mystery. At times I don't even know what I was, but I do know that it all started..." "Oh oh, Can I tell the story?" "Silver? But you don't even know parts of it, how can you tell my story?" "True true... How about we both tell it!" "... (sigh) Fine, but because I love you," "I knew you would think it was a perfect idea," "Well start away future boy," "Gladly."

"This is the story of how I died, don't worry this is actually a very fun story and the truth is it isn't even mine. This is the story is a story of a girl named Emerald, and it starts with a celebration of the birth of a princess. Now once upon a time Kingdoms from all over came to await the birth of the new princess. Each bringing a powerful emerald to bestow a gift on her. And when the child was born, she was born cold and silent. The king and queen mourned greatly for their newborn child. The news spread quickly over the kingdom and it was covered in mourning. The royals of the kingdoms came to pay their respects to the still child."

A red Echidna came up to the mourning family. "I am sorry for your loss," he gestured to the other rulers. "If we may we wish to pay our respects to the princess." The king looked at his wife whose fur was soaked from tears. She looked up at him then to the echidna and nodded. The echidna slowly walked up to the small child in the cradle in the corner of the room. The child looked as if she was in a peaceful sleep. Beautiful Royal Blue quills adorned her little head; her quills darkened as they reached the end. The echidna smiled sadly, she looked just like her father. Slowly the other royals came beside him seeing the small child. The red echidna held out a light blue emerald. "May the Master Emerald spirit guide your little one to a place of peace," The other royals slowly took out their kingdom's Emerald and held them out, paying their respects. All the emeralds seemed to glow as they overlooked the still princess. Slowly they lifted circling the child. The royals were shocked and looked at the emeralds as they forged together into one brilliant green emerald. "The Master Emerald," said one of the rulers. The emerald pulsed with power lighting the dim room in almost pure bright light. Once it all faded the seven emeralds dropped to the floor around the cradle. There was silence. No one knew what to say about the event. The only thing that snapped them out of the shocked trance was a tiny cry. A cry of a child. It came from the cradle. The echidna slowly creped toward the cradle peaking inside. A small bundle of blankets moved and squirmed soon revealing a tiny hand, then a quill, and suddenly a tiny head. He picked up the child, her blue quills shined in the rising of the sun. Some quills even glinted green. An emerald necklace wrapped around the child glinting. The Echidna walked over to the King and Queen, handing over the child to the Queen. Her eyes glittered with happiness as the child snuggled into her fur. The king quickly went over to a maid. "Deliver the good news, The princess is alive." Excited the maid spent no time running into the halls shouting the good news to all that could hear. As the news reached over the kingdom cheers of joy were heard all over.

"To celebrate her birth the King and Queen launched a flying emerald lantern into the sky, and for that one moment everything was perfect, and then that moment ended."

One night a shadow creped into the room coming over the cradle of the peacefully sleeping princess. The shadow smiled as it reached for her, but a scream stopped it midreach as it saw a maid with wide eyes. The King and Queen woke with a start seeing the shadow over the cradle. "No!" the king said speeding as he grabbed the child. The shadow enraged charged at him grabbing for the baby who was now crying. With all the drama and loud noise, the rest of the royal family burst into the room seeing the shadow attacking the King trying to reach for the princess. The king saw his family at the door, "Darren catch!" he shouted to a black and red hedgehog who was closest to him. He tossed the child to him holding back the shadow as it released black tendrils to catch her. The black hedgehog cached her. Seeing the queen he handed the child to her. "Run! Keep her safe!" The queen nodded and ran out the door. She heard the other royal members holding back the shadow creature. But some tendrils got loose and started chasing after her, destroying the castle and everything in its path. She held closer to her child as the tendrils got closer. One latched onto her ankle tripping her. She held on close to her child as she cushioned the fall. One of the tendrils reached for the child as the other held the Queen down. The princess cried as a shadowed figure came from the ground and held her. "Get away from her!" the queen spat as she fought with the black tendrils holding her down. The shadowed figure looked at the queen. "Your family will pay and it will rightfully belong to me. I will make the kingdom the most feared again." It whispered. "And she holds the power," it said stroking the princess in its arms. The queen snapped the bonds lunging for the shadowed figure. More tendrils snached at her tying her up tighter. She struggled as the figure walked to a window with the child. "NO!" she said as it opened it and prepared to run away. A blur then crashed into it, sending it to the ground. The king stood over the creature. But he did not hold the child. He looked towards the window where a black tendril dangled the child. The king looked back at the shadow. It smiled. "I... will let the princess go... if... you give me your kingdom," The king scowled. "Never," The shadow scowled. "Sooo... Be it," The tendril released the child. "NO!!!" the Queen screamed as she broke free of the tendrils and ran towards the window. The child was being held by a silver hedgehog. She sighed, "Oh thank you, Silver," The hedgehog smiled as she flew himself up to the window. The shadow saw the hedgehog with the child. Enraged he yelled, "NOOOOOO!!!" a black tendril shot towards the silver hedgehog hitting him. The child fell from his arms. In shock, the king was knocked over as the shadow flew through the window toward the falling princess. But before he could catch her. She was swallowed up in a brought light. "No-" The shadow yelled before being engulfed in the light as well destroying his form in the process. Everything was filled with screams of fear and shock, and then everything was quiet.

"And just like that the child was gone. The kingdom searched and searched, but they could not find the princess, for far away in another universe the princess was found by two humans."

A woman was reading a book. A storm was thrashing outside. A bright flash of lightning lit the house. Then the woman heard a cry. She looked up from her book. Towards the pounding rain. The cry sounded like a baby cry. She headed to the door opening it. Underneath a tree in the front yard was a bundle of soaked blankets matted with dirt. The cry came from the blankets as they squirmed in the cold rain and big winds. The woman quickly ran to the blankets not caring that she didn't have any shoes or a jacket on. She opened up the dirt-soaked blankets to reveal a blue creature of some kind.

Shocked she backed away from the creature, but the crying of the small child drew her back in

Shocked she backed away from the creature, but the crying of the small child drew her back in. The child looks about a few weeks old. The woman felt guilty for the young child. Had its parents left her? Or did something happen to them? By now the child was shivering from the cold. The woman ran back inside coming back with a few towels trying to keep them dry enough. She picked up the tiny creature taking her inside the warm house. Once she was inside she cleaned up the poor creature revealing the royal blue and emerald green quills underneath all the dirt and muck. Once the creature was all cleaned up the woman wrapped it up in some clean towels then she headed for the mucky blankets. When she picked them up a necklace fell from the blankets clinking on the ground. The woman picked up the necklace seeing that it was a small green emerald. "Hm... interesting," She said as she looked at it closely. She heard the creature beginning to stir again and set the necklace down on the counter and quickly threw the blankets into the wash. She got a medicine dropper and put some milk in it. Hopefully, it would satisfy the tiny creature until she could get something better. Picking up the creature she feld the milk to its tiny mouth. Hungerly it gulped down the liquid. Once it was satisfied it fell asleep in the woman's arms. After looking at the creature for a while, she noticed some green quills among her blue ones. She then decided to give it a name "How about Emerald..." she said soothingly to the sleeping child.

"And from then on the Woman named Maddie and her husband named Tom Raised the child as their own,"

A small hedgehog looked out of a window at the stars, "Why can't I go outside?" she said as Maddie brushed her quills. "The outside world is a dangerous place, there are people who would take you from me and hurt you. You must stay here where you're safe. Do you understand darling?" the hedgehog hugged her. "Yes, Mommy."

"In a different universe each year on the princess's birthday the King and Queen released thousands of emerald lanterns into the sky. In hope that one day, their lost princess would return."
