Kageyama Tobio (25)
It's not that I've never been in a relationship before, or that I haven't had sex before. In fact, I'd say I was rather experienced in both fields considering they were my only outlet for the frustration that came with working to become a rich business owner.
I'm not inexperienced, yet... why is it so difficult for me to accept his feelings when he should just be another option on the table?
"Kageyama~ Get me some cake, please~"
This short man with unruly hair and a carefree grin flopped into his usual booth, clad in a clearly high-end t-shirt and jeans with shoes that probably cost more than I make in a month.
Shouyou Hinata. It's hard to believe this man is the younger brother of a multi-billion dollar business owner, Natsu Hinata, but the bodyguards outside the restaurant doors are hard to explain away.
"Shouyou," He had given me permission to call him by his first name a while ago, "How many times do I have to tell you that it's too damn early for cake? Get something healthy for breakfast."
His smile widens and I feel his fingers tuck themselves into the tie of the apron on my waist, a habit he's somehow picked up when I get too close to him.
"But, you've already made some, haven't you? You always make some special for me, don't you, Kageyama~?"
Somehow, I've gotten used to his childish attitude and that perfect mouth of his stretching from ear to ear. He had set a trap some time ago that'd forced me to bend to his every will, and I hadn't seen it until it was too late.
"... Damn it." I felt my cheeks heat up knowing he had read me like an open book. "Just wait here."
His giggling haunted me to the kitchen, where I carefully cut him a piece of his favorite cake. Molten chocolate with strawberries on top, and I brought it back out to him.
"Kageyama, sit with me for a little bit!"
"No, I'm too busy."
"Hm? But there's no one else here but me? Sit down, I'll give you a bite of my cake!"
He's tried to coax me like this before, many, many times, and every single time... he's gotten his way. No matter what my dream may be, this is the present, and he's my superior.
"... Just make it quick."
He usually talks about trivial things like dogs on the sidewalks or his friends or questions me like a detective, but this time, he's oddly quiet, and he's not scarfing his cake down, almost as if he's in thought.
Curiosity gets the better of me, so I peep up about his foreign behavior.
"The hell's wrong with you? You look like a rabbit staring off into space like that."
His face fell.
"Kageyama, has anyone ever told you you sound like a gangster?"
"Hah! Better than sounding like a child."
"What! You take that back! I'm a big boy, bastard! I'm older than you by half a year!"
"Like that's so~ much!"
I can only sigh in frustration and toss myself back in the booth. He huffs and takes a bite of cake. A minute passes until I speak again.
"So... what is it? Why do you look down in the dumps? Is it work?"
I figured it may be work, helping his sister with the workload and whatnot, but I realized he had said she was on vacation. Maybe he had taken everything upon himself?
"Work? Hell no, the assistants are taking care of all that. I only have a couple of hours of paperwork a day at most. No, it's about you. I want to ask you something."
My heart sank. Was it a confession? It's not like he hasn't made it clear that he likes me in that way, but I'm not ready to deny him. It'd kill me to hurt a friend because of such a stupid thing.
When his mouth opened again, I felt my ears ringing, hoping he wouldn't say the words I thought he would, and my thoughts were like a whirlwind in my head, trying desperately to come up with excuses, with apologies.
"Do you want to work for me?"
"... Huh?"
He looks at his guards through the door and then somewhere across the street and he leans in.
"Someone's been following me here lately, I'm sure you've noticed him through the windows. He's not a friend, he's from a country I flew to last month for business. He's a... peculiar guy. The thing is... I need a bodyguard that I can trust to watch my back at all times. I need to wait to take action until he makes the first move, and I can't protect myself properly until that happens."
"Uh... What the hell makes you think I can do that? I don't have the experience to do something like that."
"I'll have you trained properly. You'll be given a bedroom in our mansion and anything you can think of to take care of yourself properly, and you'll be paid. Since you're working under me, though, I'll be your boss."
"How much?"
"Training's $5,000 a week and on the job is 7,000 a week. Tell me if you want more, and I'll happily oblique."
"Fucking what? Why so much? Is it that risky?"
"Risky," He laughs, "No, I'm just really needy is all, so it's demanding! Plus, that's more than enough for you to open up your own business! I'll even give you a helping hand with connections, too."
I feel as if I need to take a moment to think about it, but what thinking needs to be done? This is a major win for me.
As if to put a cherry on top of the cake, he states, "You're already really well-built, it won't be hard for you to get the basics down."
His shit-eating grin told me he knew he had succeeded in locking a collar around my neck, and all I could do about it was glower at him.
"I'd be an idiot not to accept."
"Good! Then, you start now! Here, go clock yourself out and pay for my cake so we can leave and go shopping!"
"Sh-Shop-? Hey- Stop pushin' me, damn it! I get it, I get it! It's too damn early for this!"
