I hated to cancel on Gavi every time he asked me to hang out. I did ask him too of course, but our schedules were so busy now that he had to cancel as well. Gavi already had two games, one at home and one away, so besides regeneration there wasn't much time left for anything else. I tried to watch his games, supporting him by sending a quick good luck text before a match.

Tomorrow was my first game, so I was currently preparing mentally for it. As I was meditating (a new hobby my therapist recommended) my phone chimed two times. I opened one eye, peaking at the contact who texted me.

gavi

wanna hang out tonight?

i miss talking to you

My heart fluttered at his words, making me rethink if it was so important to be alone tonight. Maybe he could help me with my nerves.

sure:)

my apartment?

18:30?

An hour later Gavi stood in front of my door. After showing him my apartment, I grabbed my award from the world cup and handed it to him.

„That thing is heavy!" Gavi panted, making me giggle. I quickly hushed him to my sofa so we could just relax and watch a movie. I wasn't really in the mood to talk about tomorrow as I get pretty anxious before games. Bit ironic for a professional athlete.

I told him to put on whatever he wanted while I grabbed a blanket to get comfortable. At first it was maybe a tad awkward, us two sitting close but not too close, yet not far apart from one another.

After about twenty minutes into the movie, I caught Gavi glancing at me from time to time.

Maybe it was his new haircut, maybe it was just me not seeing him for three weeks, but he looked really cute. This man has me in a chokehold already and I don't like it.

With the last bit confidence I had, I scooted closer to him, hoping he would get the hint. Gavi thankfully did and placed his hand around my waist to pull me closer to him. My head was laying on his shoulder and my eyes fluttered shut for the remainder of the movie.

Gavi nudged me softly awake and chuckled at my sleepy state.

„You fell asleep." He whispered and I smiled, burying my face even more into his shoulder.

„I should probably get going. Are you excited for tomorrow?" Gavi asked.

I scooted away a bit and let out a pent up, honest sigh. His facial expression changed from excited to concerned, so I decided to pick up the topic.

„I am, I swear. But I'm just so nervous. I know nerves are normal, especially if you're new to all of this but I think something is off." I usually hate speaking about emotions and all that stuff but Gavi was like calm in person, so I almost had to tell him.

„You mean like overly nervous?" He asked, turning his body slightly towards me. His gaze flickered from my one eye to the other, waiting for my response.

„I get nauseous, dizzy, I'm often close to fainting. I've talked with lots of doctors, they say it's anxiety. I've been in touch with a therapist for a while now but it is not really helping. The new media pressure makes the situation worse." I laughed it off, a bad habit of mine to try to overplay a serious situation like that.

Gavi looked at me with sad eyes before he brushed a lost strand of hair behind my ear.

„I'm sorry you feel like this. If I'm honest I don't know how I can help right now, but if you're not feeling well or need anything, please know I'm here for you. You can call me any time and I'll sprint over here with Balde's speed."
