DISCLAIMER this story is based on the selection by kiera cass. it takes place in illéa, but the concepts i've kept from the original series are the selection itself and the setting of illéa, while other elements have been altered or changed entirely (ex. the caste system doesn't exist, but we'll get to the rest as we go along). i wrote this with an audience who has not read the selection in mind, so besides the country being illéa and the royal name being schreave, not a lot matches up to the original series. as is tradition, the heir to the throne is hosting a selection to find a spouse, and drama will ensue—that's all you need to know!
