Al-An Dialogue/Thoughts
Self-Insert Dialogue/Thoughts

~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~**~

Al-An had never met a human before.
And Felix had never met an Architect.

Of course, that was before Felix was sent to 4546B on a research mission. Even after the Aurora crashed, the disappearance of Robin Ayou, and the abandoned research of.. whatever Alterra was doing, they decided that more research should be done on the local flora and fauna, and assigned Felix to do the job himself.

Felix's POV

Another miserably freezing day on this hellhole. How delightful!
Glancing outside my temporary base, I could see Arctic Peepers swimming about. Oh to be a fish who hasn't sold its soul to some shitty corporation! That's the dream...

With a stretch, I left my small base and got in my Sea Truck, planning to do more research on the Twisty Bridges. The Brute Sharks were a hassle to deal with, but for the sake of money and research, I knew I had to explore them more eventually. Making my way through, avoiding the sharks as best I could, my PDA suddenly lit up with a message.
"...- - -... ...- - -... ...- - -..."
A distress signal?
"Transmission of unknown origin. Source of transmission depth calculated at approximately 200 meters deep."
Well shit. Glad I came prepared with a depth module!

Making my way further, I noticed a strange pulsing obelisk, and could hear the distress signal coming from it. As I continued, I noticed they went on into a cave, and decided to follow.

Woah.

Sitting before me was what looked like a base of some kind. One I had never seen before. It was... alien.
I quickly got out of my Sea Truck and went through the odd forcefield, falling to the floor as I was no longer surrounded by water. Taking in the ruins, I heard a voice call out.
"Sanctuary power: critical"
"Hello? Is someone there?"
"In a manner of speaking. We are running out of time."
"Seeking emergency storage medium"
"Who are you? Show yourself!"
"If we could show ourself, we would not need storage"
I thought for a moment, remembering mentions of a precursor race.
"Are you... an Architect? Like, a real, genuine Architect?"
"Storage medium identified"
"We will be lost without a host. Can you help?"
Can I?
"I don't know... could you use my PDA?"
"It will have to do. My data can be downloaded at the terminal. I ask that you hurry."
"Yes, ok, will do."

Walking further into the facility, I see a room with a large... cube? In the back, I notice the terminal, and run towards it. Holding my PDA out, I interact with the hologram in front of me.
"Storage medium identified. Brace for transfer."
"BRACE?!"
I suddenly feel a sharp pain in my head, my ears begin to ring, and my vision spins. A few seconds later, The pain ends and I'm left slightly lightheaded. The cube crumbles in front of me as the lights in the facility flicker.
How do you feel?
"Why do you sound like you're in my head?"
The facility detected sustainable space in your cerebral cortex.
"You ARE in my head?! I offered you my PDA, why did you go in my HEAD?!"
Oh no... your kind perceives a difference between cybernetic and organic components?
"Yes! And also why do you sound British? And how do you know English?! You never even answered if you're an Architect!"
All will be answered in due time. For now, I will allow you time to process.

What. The. FUCK.
There is an ALIEN in my BRAIN. WHAT.
Running out of the facility and hopping back in my Sea Truck, I make my way back to my base. Opening the door and sitting down, the voice speaks again.

We understand this is... undesirable.
"No shit. How do I get you out of my head?"
We require a suitable vessel to transfer.
"Hold on. We? How many of you are in my head right now?"
One of us and all of us. We do not see ourselves as individual, distinct.
"Ok well... what are you, an Architect? Do you have a name?"
Yes, your kind calls us Architects. As for a 'name', you may use my species designation code. Please call me Al-An.
"Your an alien named... Alan?"
Is that an issue?
I had to hold back my laughter for a few seconds before responding.
"No! It's... perfect. What are you doing here Al-An?"
That is a long story... for now, I suggest you focus on building a new storage medium. I have uploaded the required parts to your databank. You will need to find the components.
"Alright, any clue where I could start searching?"
It is unclear. I have been disconnected from my network for so long, I cannot find the coordinates.

Well thats just great!
What was supposed to be a research mission has now turned into a 'build-a-friend' mission! How on Earth am I gonna explain this to the higher-ups...

For now, I suppose I should just get some rest...
