"ya-ya!!" Sophie screamed as soon as she entered the house, running to the kitchen to find her grandmother. She crushed the old women into a hug and the two of them started jumping up and down as if they were 10.
"I wish I got that reaction" Sophie's grandfather murmured to himself, loud enough for his granddaughter to here.
"Oh please you would be far too embarrassed in front of your friends" the girl spoke to her grandfather who only rolled his eyes, knowing that she was right.
"I made your favourite... Gnocchi" Although it wasn't a greek dish, this had become Sophie's favourite when she was around 5, much to her grandfathers dislike.
"I really missed your cooking ya-ya" She really had, Hogwarts was great but the house-elves didn't add random shit into the recipe and make it work like her grandmother did.
"I'm glad you did... did you get a boyfriend yet?" this was her question every time she saw her granddaughter. every time. And the reaction was the same. every time.
"ohhh ya-ya why did you spoil it?" the teenager asked as she pulled away from her grandma groaning about it.
"yes why did you have to ruin it?" her grandfather also asked, not wanting to hear the response having banned boyfriends till she was 40.
"I'm only curious, you're getting old my love" the women responded, leading to her get complaints more.
"Please I'm only sixteen"
there was a moments silence after that and both the granddaughter and the grandfather thought that they had gotten away from the boyfriend chat.
"I'm only saying, you should really start looking when your-" the women could barley be heard over the complaints from the two other people in the room, who were not happy with the conversation.
"I'm going to start unpacking" Sophie said eager to exit the area.
The girl practically ran upstairs into her room. She had missed this place so much. she had one of the best views in the house, including a small balcony. When her grandparents had first moved from England to Greece she had begged and begged and begged for that specific room. It wasn't the biggest room so they didn't mind letting her have it. It was perfect.

It had been a few hours and Sophie had remained locked up in her room, having barley touched her suitcase except for getting her book out. She was sat on her balcony chair, feet on the railing with said book in hand. Her favourite book, little women. She had read and reread this book so many times and could never get enough of it.
There was a loud knock on the door, which brought her out of the story looking up, however she quickly went back to her book, assuming someone else would answer it. However the knock repeated, lasting long this time. She sighed at this but did not move from her spot.
"Sophie answer the door!" she heard her grandmother shout up to her. This made the girl mutter "for fucks sake" putting her book down and trundging downstairs to the door, which had someone knocking again.
"I'm coming, I'm coming Jesus" the girl said to the door, having no idea who it was or what they were doing here.
Just as she opened the door she heard her grandfather shout "shit" in english, knowing his wife would take longer understand him. This made Sophie turn to his direction, however she was still opening the door and instead of focusing on him, she turned to see who it was.
"James?" she was shocked to see the teenager stood in the doorway. "what are you doing here?"
her poor grandfather ran into the hallway, standing next to Sophie with a smile on his face.
"You must be James, come in, come in" this made the teenage girl look at him as if he had killed someone.
"John, what the hell is he doing here?" Sophie whisper shouted to her grandfather. She had an odd habit of calling him his actual name, but he never seemed to mind. Although she mainly did it when she was telling him off.
"the potters are staying with us this summer" He whispered back to her and before she could say anything else he ran outside to help the old couple who appeared to be James parents.
There was an awkward silence between James and Sophie as he left, neither knowing what to say. Typically Sophie was good at making conversation however all manners had left her, being too confused and angry with her Grandfather.
they both smiled at each other as one does, when feeling extremely awkward however were saved when Sophies grandmother entered the room and started ushering James in the house.
"What the fuck is he doing here?" the girl asked her grandmother, attempting to get some answers.
"your Grandfather told you the potters were staying with us this summer sweetheart" she replied simply as if the fact a teenage boy appearing out of nowhere was nothing.
"No he didn't!" Sophie resorted back to whisper shouting and poor James looked so confused, the greek language seemed like alien to him.
this remark made her grandmother roll her eyes and mutter "for fucks sake" (in english), knowing that her useless husband had lied about telling her and that he granddaughter was now going to kill him.
The sound of the front door closing made the 17 year old turn on her heels, with daggers in her eyes and start striding towards her grandfather. The old man looked scared, which made his friend laugh not thinking that a teenage girl could do much harm. However, the two older women shared a look with each other, both knowing exactly what was going to happen.
However, to John's surprise she didn't start attacking him and instead went to hug Euphemia greeting her, who was stood just next to him. While doing so, she mouthed to her grandfather "you are dead", which made the man gulp in fear. He was terrified.
"come in, come in. we have so much to catch up on" Sophie's grandmother encouraged, everyone entering the kitchen. Sophie however stayed back and as her Grandfather was entering the room he looked over his shoulder to see her miming cutting her throat, which would be his very soon. She was a very dramatic girl.

right up until dinner, Sophie felt extremely awkward, especially because she had been forced to sit next to James while the other adults had conversations. She had began trying to make some conversation with him but he was not in the mood and appeared irritated by her precense.
"sooo.... what else is knew?" This was a saying that her and her friends had developed saying as time had gone on, as a conversation starter.
"you probably know" He scoffed. Obviously not in the best mood Soph thought.
"maybe I don't. How was the train ride home?"
"fine."
"Do you have any plans for the summer?"
"Well i'm here aren't I" He responded with a miserable tone.
"which you seem so thrilled about" she muttered under her breath. James did hear, but didn't saying anything realising he was being harsh.
"do you want to do anything tomorrow?" the girl asked him, hoping to show him her home town.
"I don't know" he responded in the same miserable tone. Soph desided to stop asking questions, because he was draining her energy. However, she doesn't do well with awkward silences and began overthinking things. She was starting to get extremely anxious, messing with her hands, peeling skin.
Before it got too bad her ya-ya called for dinner, to which Sophie had forgotten to be excited about.
Before bed that night, she sat on her balcony staring at the stars with her guitar in her hand, strumming light melodies to distract herself. She felt a need to impress James for some unknown reason. She wanted him to get over Lily and not be a miserable shit the whole holiday. and for the two of them to become friends. Remus was always talking about him and how he was a great person, she wanted to see that for herself.
