HUFF
"Fuck," was all you thought as you bent over holding your knees out of breath.
It had been a while since you went on a run. Ever since the incident back in high school, you had not run for years. Now here you are during your freshman year of college without any idea as to what major you should declare while you try to get back in shape to walk on for the track team.
The tasks seemed a lot easier said than done. For now, you took general courses until you could figure out your passion. As for the track team, you had this whole semester to get back in shape before the season begin. You knew it would not be easy, especially after taking some years off after the incident, but you were willing to try again.
You recollect the feelings you felt during the incident: anger, sadness, envy, and so on. You could not help but feel upset and yell at the top of your lungs to get all the emotions out.
"For a small girl, you really are intimidating when you're angry," noted a male's voice behind you.
You whipped your head around to find a young man bearing purple hair, purple eyes, and a wide cheeky grin. He was wearing a black sweater, white undershirt, and khaki jeans while his neck was complemented by a matching white scarf. His converse were a deep purple, almost looking black in the dark. He was sitting on a swingset as he smoked a cigarette. His face bore little to no emotion as it seemed bland and dull. He looked dreadful in all honesty.
"Well, for a guy who looks well put together, you really shouldn't be smoking, especially on a playground," you finally responded, smirking.
The purple haired male only chuckled, taking another puff of his smoke. Awkward silence pervaded the air between you two until he finally said something.
"You know, you can start running again if you want. I'm not sure who you're running from, but they might catch you now if you don't start up again," mumbled the purple haired male.
You giggled, placing one hand on your hip and the other on your mouth to hide your amusement.
"I really don't want to- I'm out of shape, but I guess I need to if I want to walk on the track team for MHU," you retorted, sighing at the work you will have to put in again.
"Yeah, you seemed out of shape after all that huffing and puffing you did there," grinned the male.
"Oh please, maybe say that again when you're not smoking in front of me," you responded, clearly not interested in his playfulness.
"Yeah no, you're right," chuckled the male again as he took another puff.
"Well, I hope you have a good night, see you around," you said as you turn back around getting ready to start running again.
"You too, track star," he responded.
"It's (y/n)," you mumbled.
"Shinso," he stated.
And then you were off again into the night, until finally you made it back to the dorms. On the other hand, Shinso continued to smoke until his cigarette grew smaller and distasteful, finally heading back to the dorms as well. You did not know you both lived in the same dorms, nor did he, but he did know you both went to the same school. You, on the other hand, thought he chose a different path as he seemed unmotivated. Despite making such a bold assumption about him, you could not help but feel somewhat happy.
Track star.
