They had summoned all the kings and queens of the Northern Continent for a meeting
Aelin had expected it of course, after all the chaos with the Valg demons and Adarlan's reign ending. But she didn't expect it to happen only 6 months later.
Nevertheless there she was sitting in the massive meeting room, it was situated on the border between her home and kingdom; Terrasen and the neighbouring Adarlan. It was a round building with a massive dome covering the top, which was gold in colour, inside there was 1 massive chamber where 7 chairs were put at a decent distance from each other around a larger then average sized round table which had the map of the Northern Continent.
She was given the invitation by the king of Fenharrow and Queen of Melisande as they were the ones who had prepared the whole thing, though she was only allowed to bring 1 guard alongside, she would've chosen her husband and consort, Rowan but her cousin Aedion wanted to go instead and she relented after a small bit of argument. He was standing right behind her and staring at the other kings and queens.
To Aelin's right was her good friend Dorian Havilliard, the king of Adarlan and standing next to him, abother good friend of her's, lord Chaol West fall, who was lord of Anielle and hand of the king. She gave them both a smile and waved to them, which they both returned. All 4 of them, Aedion, Aelin, Dorian and Chaol had been fighting side by side against the Valg and were closer then the closest of friends.
Aedion whispered into Aelin's ear "try not to be to sassy today, we don't want the other kingdoms to be mortified of you, even if some of them already know" clearly he meant Adarlan by that last bit. Aelin replied "Don't worry Aedion, I'll try to be less sassier then usual–then Aelin smirked and said–though I can't really promise anything". Aedion sighed but Aelin saw a hint of amusement in his eyes. All of them had relaxed alot after the repairs and improvements of Terrasen finished last month. Though now Aelin had to get into the less fun part of her reign—Politics.
She looked to her left where the queen of Melisande sat. Queen Anastasia, who Aelin didn't particularly like and she was sure the feeling was shared by the other queen due the the–rocky relationship between them, which started when Melisande allied itself to Morath and the Valg and in return Aelin sacked her capital with the help of another ally and friend, Ansel of Briarcliff.
Rowan had told her, before coming here, that she should try to create an alliance with the queen of Melisande because her kingdom was known to be good with technology and she would need more allies and lesser enemies.
The Queen of Melisande had a tall lean man in red armour and a sort of hammer standing next to her as a guard. No doubt the commander of her armies, if she had any left that is.
Speaking of Ansel, she sat to the left of the Queen Anastasia. She looked at Aelin and gave her a mischievous grin, and she returned an equally mischievous glance. Ansel also had a guard standing next to her, Ilium, the master of the silent assassins, who had given his post to another and had joined Ansel's kingdom as captain of the guard.
Next to her sat another friend of Aelin, who also fought against the Valg with her, the Queen of the Ironteeth and Crochan witches, Manon Blackbeak. She also looked at Aelin and gave her a flash of her iron teeth, which Aelin showed one of her hunting knives in return. Their friendship was a long and bloody one, beginning when they almost killed each other, but isn't that how all friendships begin?
Ansel and Manon had made an interesting deal to divide the Western wastes into the Northern Witch Kingdom and the Southern Kingdom Of Briarcliff. Aelin was glad, and a little shocked that only a little bloodshed had happened in the making of that border, she expected a war over those lands. But even she didn't know everything.
Next to Manon, on her left was the king of Fenharrow, it used to be ruled by many merchants and lords but recently a new king had risen to improve and modernize the kingdom. King Magnus was a burly man with a beard covering his chin, he was wearing red and green robes.
Aelin watched as Queen Anastasia smiled at King Magnus who returned the smile, the news had reached her last week of their marriage to further strengthen the bonds between their kingdoms, apparently now trade and movement between their kingdoms had become absolitely free and easy for people from those 2 kingdoms. At the time Aelin hadn't cared of their marriage but now...now she had to look out for them and their political views.
Finally directly across the table to her was the King of Ewllye, Nehemiah's brother Deji. He was wearing pure white robes with a white staff which had iron tips. Aelin couldn't look at him for long due to the uncanny resemblance he had to his sister and Aelin's best friend–Nehemia. Unlike his sister Deji was known to be ruthless and harsh with his judgement.
Together Aelin and the 6 other monarchs made up the majority of the Northern Continent, of course there were the frozen wastes and the red sands desert but they had no real lord or leader to represent them.
Aelin was about to say something to Aedion when Queen Anastasia of Melisande got up and said "My dear kings and queens, leaders of their respective kingdoms and territories, I have called you all here today for 2 main reasons, firstly is to discuss the future of our continent, and second yet still important...how to make Adarlan pay for it's crimes of occupation and murder against our respective kingdoms".
