In the beginning of our tale, Osamu Dazai, whom Ryūnosuke Akutagawa and Nakajima Atsushi look up to. Dazai believes that both of his apprentices could potentially make the new generation of Double Black, whom he shared this name with Chuuya Nakahara. Although, the two hated one another and constantly bickered. Enable to put a stop to the madness they would cause by being in each others sight, Dazai formed a plan to force them to be roommates for a month. Therefore, Dazai borrowed (stole) money from Kunikida and told a simple white lie to the both of them, separately, that he had rented an apartments for them to stay in for only a month. Dazai also explained he would visit them regularly. This is where our story begins.
