"I should pack my bag," Kai says to Asher.
They have been lying on her messy bed for a couple of minutes waiting for the Blackswan kids, but they are taking a while.
"Yeah probably," he says.
Kai slowly gets up and looks around the mess.
"Oh here," She says moving a blanket off of her covered backpack.
She starts walking around the room grabbing random clothes that are sprawled around the floor. She shoves everything into the bag and throws it on the bed.
"That was quick," Asher says.
Kai laughs, "Well everything I needed was sort of already out for me to grab,"
"Oh right," Asher laughs.
Kai smiles and climbs back onto the bed next to him.
"Okay so it looks like no one has been in your dad's office," Biana says as she and Linh walk into her bedroom.
Tam and Dex walk in after them.
"Okay, that's good," Kai says sitting up. Asher follows and sits up too. "I packed some clothes and stuff so I'm good to go,"
"Perfect," Linh says.
"Thanks for letting us search your house," Dex says.
"Yeah of course," Kai says, "Sorry you didn't find anything more,"
"It's all good, any little bit of information can help us," Dex says.
"Yeah especially the note, I think Forkle is planning a steak out at the place," Tam says.
"What?!" Biana and Dex say at the same time.
"You haven't heard?" Linh asks. "Kai got a note and they asked for a meeting. Tomorrow night,"
"No, we didn't hear," Dex pouts. Kai feels bad, it seems like no one ever tells him anything.
"Where is the meeting?" Biana asks.
"Well, we actually don't know. I was going to ask Kai, but then this happened," Tam says.
Everyone looks towards Kai. She knows exactly where the spot is and she hates that they want to meet her there.
"It's in the Wanderling Woods," Kai says, "At my dad's tree,"
The group looks at her sympathetically.
"Okay, I'll make sure to tell Forkle," Tam says.
Kai nods.
"I should get home," Dex says. "We still on to meet at Everglen tomorrow?"
"Yup," Biana says, popping the p.
Dex leaps away, and Biana does the same after.
"Okay, you ready?" Linh asks Kai.
She nods and slings her bag over her shoulder.
"I'll see you tomorrow Asher," Kai says.
He smiles, "Bye Kai,"
He pulls out his home crystal as she fades into the light.
"Nothing was missing?" Tirgan asks.
"No nothing... at least nothing I saw," Kai says.
"I'll talk with Forkle," Tigran says, "He will probably want some more people to search the room.
Kai nods, "Could you just tell him not to mess up my dad's office,"
Tigran smiles sympathetically, "Of course,"
He walks off quickly, pulling out his imparter.
"Is he a part of the blackswan?" Kai asks Tam and Linh.
Tam shrugs with no facial expression but a look of worry crosses Linh's that gives Kai her answer.
"So do you want to put your stuff in the extra room?" Linh asks.
"Yeah sure," Kai says.
They go to the same room Kai stayed in the night before and Kai sets her bag on the bed. The room is exactly the same as she'd left it yesterday.
"So... are you and Asher dating?" Linh asks. The question takes Kai by surprise.
"Oh um no," She feels her face heat up.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to overstep or anything," Linh says worriedly.
"No no, you're all good. It's a genuine question," Kai says. She can tell her face must still be pink.
Linh grins, "You two act like you're dating,"
Kai giggles, "Yeah I guess we kind of do,"
She sighs and sits on the bed.
"The problem is that another one of my good friends has a crush on him," Kai says. "And I don't know if he likes her back or not,"
"I get that," Linh says. "At least with the two of you, it seems like he does like you,"
Kai grins brightly. "Really?"
"Yeah definitely,"
Kai really wants to tell Asher, but there is always the doubt in the back of her head that he doesn't like her back.
"So... you knew Marella right?" Linh says.
Kai grimaces. "Yes, she was my best friend,"
"Oh," Linh says. "What happened?"
"We got into a huge fight, just before Sophie came here. We don't talk anymore and it hurts," Kai says sadly. "Not being her friend is one of my biggest regrets,"
"I'm sorry," Linh says. "If you want I could talk to her for you,"
Kai smiles, "Really?"
"Of course," Linh says. "I'll let her know that you're sorry,"
"That would be... great," Kai says thankfully.
"Linhhhh!!" Tam yells from another room. "Your murder pet is hungry!"
Kai gives Linh a look. "Murder pet?"
Linh laughs. "It's my murcat, Princess Purryfins,"
Kai laughs, "Princess Purryfins?!"
"Yup," Linh giggles.
"Linh!!!" Tam yells, "She's getting angry!!!"
"Better go help her," Linh says walking out of the room. "Wanna come?"
"Yeah definitely,"
"Let's go,"
They go out to another room together, inside there is a huge water tank with a murcat inside. Kai knows that murcats are really crazy and violent creatures.
"Linh she's going crazy," Tam says. He has water splashed all over him.
"What happened to you?" Kai asks laughing.
Tam groans, "That happened," He points at the murcat, which is clawing at the edge of the cage.
"Ahh, I can see that now," Kai laughs.
Linh laughs and grabs some food from the cabinet next to it.
"Here you go Princess Purryfins," Linh says soothingly.
"Its name matches its personality really well," Kai says sarcastically.
"I know right," Tam says.
They laugh together as Linh tries to feed the murcat.
