Kai Parker was never one to really care about anyone. His family treated him like shit because of what he was, so why should he care for them? Or anyone for that matter?

Well, that changed on Christmas day, nineteen ninety. Another baby was born into the Parker family, her name being Amber Rose Parker.

Of course Kai wasn't allowed to hold her, but as soon as he saw her he was instantly taken by her big blue eyes. He felt this warmth in his chest, it was foreign but he didn't hate it. The siphon felt the need to protect her from everything bad in the world, even though at the time he was thirteen years old.

A few years after her birth, the family had noticed something strange about Amber. Being witches, minus Mrs Parker, they could tell who was a witch, werewolf or vampire. But when it came to their youngest, there was no magic coming from her at all. At first they thought she was like Kai, but Amber's hands never glowed red when she touched one of them.

Kai's mother soon cracked, and told the truth about Amber and why she seemed different. She explained that she had had an affair with a man who was a werewolf, but it was only a one time thing and so she lied saying that the baby was Joshua's.

Things drastically changed after the news, and Joshua was far from happy. The thing is, is that he never took his anger out on his wife. He instead took it out on little innocent Amber. Joshua treated her just like he treated Kai, sometimes even worse. He would scream at her, insult her, beat her, starve her and would even lock her up in the downstairs basement.

The oldest Parker had tried many times to defend his baby sister, but he was never strong enough to fight against Joshua. But Kai would always sneak her food and water, he would clean her wounds and assure her that she was loved.

Through-out the years of her abuse, Amber had become a shell of herself. She would hardly speak, and if she did it would be above a whisper.

Any loud noise would make her jump, and if someone were to yell, she would go into a panic attack. But there was one thing that she didn't know that she had, except Kai.

Being that he was the only one to care for her, he saw her change. There was one thing that stood out the most when she was about six or seven.

Usually when Joshua beat her or insulted her she would be a crying mess in the corner. But then suddenly, her whole body language would change and she would verbally fight back or just take the abuse without crying or showing pain.

With some research on what he had seen, Kai found out that his sister had a lot of the symptoms of someone who has a split personality disorder or dissociative identity disorder. It was common for people who have gone through trauma, and Amber had enough trauma to last her many life times.

Fast forward to nineteen ninety-four, things got even worse. Joshua had been angrier than usual, and of course took it out on Amber. But this time was different. He was so angry, that he nearly killed her. If it wasn't for Kai, he would've lost the only family member he loved and cared for.

The siphon wanted nothing more than to kill his father, heck, his whole family but Amber was his priority. So, after knocking their father unconscious, Kai had already packed a couple bags of his and Amber's things, and the two left the Parker house for good.

The older Parker had moved them to a small town called Mystic Falls. It was a strange town, but it was a town they could call home. Somewhere safe and away from their father.
