8.Genie (Tell me your wish)

We went filming another variety reality show to keep our popularity going.

MBC "Girls Generation Horror Factory" Was a show meant to prepare us for acting experiences in a horror movie.The show was filmed during the recording of our upcoming EP album and was to air as we prepared a single and music video.The first episode was to trick Taeyeon that ghosts were real inside an abandoned house while all the other members prank.

Often we would record before and after doing the show and Taeyeon also did her radio,Yuri and Tiffany hosted music core and Yoona missed doing the show as she was busy filming tv-show Cinderellla Man. Even though we were tired doing the show was some of the most fun we as a group have had. We got to different types of acting challenges and I had a blast. Short members vs tall members were supposed to buy a gift for our acting coach,actor Lee Bumsoo. Whom we were meeting for the first time.One of the host of the show Jo hye ryun suddenly runs over to the swimming section.The producers thought it would be fun to buy swim trunks for him and we just followed along.Sunny was a big fan of Lee Bumsoo and crushing hard when he said "Hello" specifically to her.I don't know why we never got a movie like Super Junior.We would have been great. Yuri and Sooyong had started at university to study acting and alongside Yoona were already making names. Tiffany,Seohyun and Sunny were naturals at acting.Tiffany came prepared to the acting class with her own scene from "Coffee Prince" and I came with a scene from "Boys over flowers".

Even if we had fun wrestling in fatsuits and playing games somehow the ratings for' Horror factory' was too low.The low ratings could have something to do with the fact that it was on sunday evenings.  80% of our fans were school kids  that were told to study and go to bed early.The show was scrapped and replaced by a show called "Himnera" (Cheer up in Korean.) On Himnera we were supposed to cheer people up who had faced problems during the global economic slump of 2008. On that show, I have no idea what we were doing and to be honest I don't think the PD knew either. But I was just happy to be on tv. During these shows Hyoyeon became to be the savage variety show queen we all know and love today alongside Sooyoung.

When I first heard "Genie" I couldn't believe it was our song.It sounded like a cool Rihanna song with a strong dance beat. Legendary SM producer Yoo young Jin had scooped up the song from Europe and it was almost meant for a solo artist outside the company .Since I wasn't as busy as the other members with other stuff I was in the studio and got to hear that song evolve.At first the line in the chorus was "and I just want a wish" This was later changed and re-recorded to "Soaneur marebwa".Nobody likes vocals more than Yoo young Jin and I knew that this was going to be massive.While in the studio we were discussing parts.

"So I'm I singing this last part, and what about Jessica and Taeyeon?"I ask.

"No Taeyeon is singing the adlibs by herself." Jong Jin told me.

"But I can do it too" I said to him. He didn't look convinced at all.

"I mean I'm actually here, I can take the part, let me try it"

"Ok" He says and spin around in his office chair.

I walk into the booth and put on the headphones ."DJ put it back on"

"Ohh Shippo,Shippoo!!" I sing and then the last chorus comes and I take off!

"Neoui fantasy-reul sumgimeobsi malhaebwa..... genie naega deureojulkke!!" I push out with all my might.

"Ok that was good, it was better than I thought" I heard back.

A few days later I was told the part was still going to Taeyeon. It was going to wait for her like a golden medal on a silk pillow behind bulletproof glass for whenever she was ready.The way I found out was true SM style.A few days after my recording I was in my pyjamas at the dorm. Taeyeon came into the living room excited.
