A big day is coming.
I've been selected as representative of our university to participate in an event about modern methods of education. The event is to take place on the other side of the country and I'm leaving today.
Two people for each grade have been selected. Of course, Jungwon has been selected too.
We're standing next to each other, waiting for the bus that is to drive us to the airport.
"Congratulations," he says.
"To you too."
"You seem nervous."
"I don't like travelling. It makes me anxious."
"You like your comfort I see. Surprising that an impressive girl like you would have trouble stepping out of her comfort zone."
"You're the one pushing me out of my comfort zone every time you open your mouth."
"Is that a compliment?"
We get in the bus, reach the airport and get on the plane.
I'm not seated next to Jungwon, and even if I was glad at first, I realize now that I'm actually disappointed.
"You look terrible."
Opening my eyes, my hands contracted around my arm rests, I look up to see Jungwon, leaning above my head.
"I already told you, I don't like travelling."
"Are you scared in planes?"
The plane makes an unfamiliar noise and I close my eyes again. I can hear Jungwon walk away. This jerk could have said something comforting instead of mocking me!
"Hey."
I jump. Two minutes later, Jungwon is at my seat again, his hands full of stuff.
"How can you travel without equipment when you know it puts you in this state. I'm doubting your capacities. Here, an eye mask, some pills for seasickness, water, and some noise cancelling earplugs, better than music, you should try to sleep. Drink up too, you look like you're about to pass out."I look at him, mouth ajar, flabbergasted. Prince charming is in front of me. Is he doing this to thank me for acting in front of his parents?
I accept gracefully.
"Jungwon," I grab his sleeve while he is about to leave. "Thank you."
He smiles. My friends seated next to me are looking at us with eyes open wide.
Several hours later, we arrive at the airport. For the first time in my life, I don't feel like dying after a flight.
I'm searching Jungwon with my eyes, but he seems busy with his own friends. Once we reach the hotel, I won't be able to talk to him until the event, tomorrow.
"Is there something going on between Jungwon and you, Engene?" asks Aïcha, an upperclassmen and friend of mine, who also happens to share my hotel room.
"No! Ahem- We've become good friends that's it, since we see each other in every club."
"He seems to like you."
"Yeah, I also like hanging out with him, he is a lot of fun."
The big day comes. I take hours to prepare myself, my speech, my introduction for networking. I can't calm down.
We reach the ballroom where the event is taking place. My anxiety is skyrocketing.
Until my savior appears by my side:
"Hi there, Green. You look a little agitated."
It's Jungwon. I retain myself to not hug him. His presence is surprisingly soothing.
"I'm in agony. I love this kind of event, but it always puts me into emotional turmoil."
"It's just because I'm next to you. That's love."
I roll my eyes.
"Your presence is actually calming my heart down. So much for falling in love."
"In this case, I'm happy to help."
He keeps joking but I realize he's in the exact same state as me. He keeps moving his hands around, and his lips are tight.
"Maybe we should find the buffet," I propose. "A little drink would help us relax."
He doesn't even contradict me and follow after me.
