Eryin (Alysia) POV:
"I haven't had the chance to explore the Mer section yet," I remarked, eyeing Jack. I glanced down at him and displayed the two files in my hands. "Mr. Fowler provided me with these folders for information on them."
Jack and Miko examined the files, and Miko flashed a smile. "We met the mers a while ago when we first arrived. Why not let us show you?" she suggested.
I grinned and nodded, saying, "Lead the way." Miko's enthusiasm was palpable as she exclaimed, "Follow me then, I'll show you to them!" Jack looked like he wanted to facepalm, but he refrained. I walked behind Miko and Jack as they guided me towards a large red door.
Miko swiped her card, and the keypad displayed 'Personal Accepted' as the doors began to open. A brief flash of light made me shield my eyes momentarily. When I lowered my arms, I was greeted by a surprising sight.
A vast lagoon stretched out on both sides of the room, with a catwalk dividing the two halves for human passage. An arched gateway offered a stunning view of the expansive, crystal-clear water, accompanied by the immediate scent of salt.
The lagoon was adorned with greenery and a variety of plants along the sides. Steps were strategically placed at the edges, where sand met the water's edge, creating a walking space.
'I never knew an Oceanarium could be so beautifully designed,' I thought to myself while taking in the scenery. Miko's voice snapped me back to reality, and she playfully nudged my elbow. "Too busy admiring the beauty, huh?"
I chuckled and replied, "It's an impressive architectural design, especially for an Oceanarium. Must have taken quite some time to build." I smiled behind my mask.
"It did take a while. Come on! Jack and I want to introduce you to the mers!" Miko said, grabbing my wrist and pulling me along the catwalk. Jack trailed behind us, and I tightly clutched the two files to prevent them from falling to the floor.
??? POV:
Lost in contemplation about how to mend the broken hole, I was abruptly pulled from my thoughts by the shifting of water. Turning towards the entrance, I saw a large, muscular green Mer making his way to the front, his powerful arms giving him an imposing presence.
Behind him, a smaller Mer with yellow and black stripes closely followed, mirroring the same mixture of excitement and surprise on their faces.
"Arcee, you won't believe what I just saw! There's a new human with Miko and Jack by the entrance!" the green Mer exclaimed, the yellow one expressing equal enthusiasm with whirring sounds, their servos indicating their happiness at the prospect of a new human.
"Really? It's been months since we had a newcomer. I'm surprised, especially after the incident," Arcee commented, her gaze fixed on the duo with curiosity. "Bulkhead, go inform Optimus about the new human arrival." The green Mer swiftly swam away without hesitation.
"Bee, let's investigate," Arcee said, urging the yellow-striped Mer to join her as they moved towards Miko, Jack, and the new employee.
Eryin (Alysia) POV:
Being pulled along the catwalk, I descended a flight of steps onto the sandy part of the lagoon. Scanning the surroundings, I noticed a boy seated on a large, flat rock near the water's edge. Despite being shorter than Miko and Jack, his disheveled hair and the company-provided laptop with a Trident logo caught my attention.
"Raf, we've got a new employee!" Miko called out to the boy, who looked up, adjusting his glasses that had slipped down his nose. "Miko, I never thought we'd get another applicant for the position," he remarked with a hint of confusion, closing his laptop and hopping off the rock to join us.
