Episode 87

"Emerald and the Talent Show"

Bugs: (Narration) Cartoon Elementary loved to showcase their students and their various talents such as singing, dancing, or even just pictures and fun Stuff to do for your special talent, Such as Bluey making up one of her own pretend games.

(Continued) However, this story is about the Green Hedgehog who had Autism: Emerald, and her performance at the April talent show. She loved to sing but felt a bit Shy, so looking for inspiration, she turned to me, Mr. A, Bluey, Pinkie Pie, Amy, and of course, Lola.

Cartoon Elementary. Classroom.

Lola: You wanted to see us, Emerald?

Emerald: Yeah.

Bluey: I understand you want to enter the talent show, huh?

Emerald: Yeah. I came to ask for your advice on what I need to do.

Amy: Well, you've come to the right Girls, Emerald! What can we help you with?

Emerald: Well, to tell you the Truth, I'm a bit shy and Nervous. I don't know what I want to do.

Bluey: Is there something you're good at, Emerald? Maybe you can showcase that at the Talent Show!

Emerald: Well, there are times that I sing in my free time at home, but I've never done it in front of an actual audience, you know?

Bluey: Oh I see.

Emerald: You see Bluey, I have Autism. I don't tell this to everybody because my Autism is high-functioning and sometimes causes me to lose focus. I'm thinking about it now that the talent show is right around the corner, and I'm starting to get a bit of...

Bluey: Stage Fright?!

Emerald: Yeah.

Bluey: Bingo once had to deal with Presentation fright for Show and Tell in her Class in my Show. But Mum's advice helped her out. And maybe I can also use my Mum's Wisdom to help you!

Emerald: How So?

Bluey: I've sung a lot of Silly Songs! You know, for my Very Silly Sing-Along and its CD Companion, Very Silly Sing and Play-Along!

Emerald: Oh! I remember that concert now! You did that one with Bugs Bunny, Mr. A, Sonic, Yakko, and all of your other friends!

Bluey: Indeed I did! And I had lots of fun!

Dot: Bluey loves to make up her silly songs sometimes, It's Reminding Me of a Certain Larry the Cucumber.

Emerald: So you'll help me out, Right Bluey?

Bluey: I'd be glad to! Just come over to my house and we will make up a new song!

Emerald: Sounds Good!

Bluey: Alright! To the Heeler House!

Emerald: Huh?

Bluey: Heehee! I always wanted to spoof that line.

Emerald: Oooh!

(Transition)

Bluey: So you know I come from Disney and Australia, right?

Emerald: Right. I do. What are your favorite songs to sing?

Bluey: Well, Besides VeggieTales, I've Parodied some Sesame Street Songs like "Polly Puppy" for Rubber Ducky, I've also done a bit of Sandra Boynton with Mr. A's help. She's made silly songs about different animals like Aardvarks, Cows, Pigs, Chickens, even dogs!

Emerald: Wow. Were you thinking of one of those songs for me?

Bluey: I was thinking of a Muppets song my Dad had me Listen to Called Rainbow Connection. It fits perfectly with the Spring theme.

Emerald: Can you play it and Teach the words to me?

Bluey: Sure!

*She plays Rainbow Connection for Emerald*

Emerald: It sounds beautiful, Bluey.

Bluey: Glad you like it. I've been practicing it on my Ukulele. *plays some notes of it on her ukulele* Maybe you can Sing and I can play my ukulele with it!

Emerald: I like that Idea. Let's Try it out first.

Bluey: Okay! I'll count off and then I'll start playing, and I'll cue you to Start singing, Okay?

Emerald: Oh okay.

Bluey: One, two, three, four. (starts playing as we transition to the stage)

Emerald Breathes. Bluey Cues her to Start.

Emerald: (singing) 🎵 Why are there so many songs about Rainbows, and What's on the Other Side? Rainbows are visions, but only illusions. And rainbows have nothing to hide. So we've been told and some choose to believe it, I know they're wrong, wait and see. Some day we'll find it; the rainbow connection; the lovers the dreamers and me.

(Continued) Who said that every wish would be heard and answered when wished on the Morning Star? Somebody Thought of that, and someone believed it, look what it's done so far... What's so amazing that keeps us stargazing, and what do you think we might see? Some day we'll find it; the rainbow connection; the lovers the dreamers and me. All of us under its spell, we all know that it's probably Magic...

(Bluey changes the Key)

Emerald: (continues singing) Have you been half-asleep and have you heard voices? I've heard them calling my name. Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors? The voice might be one and the Same. I've heard it too many times to ignore it; it's something that I'm supposed to be. Some Day we'll find it; the rainbow connection; the lovers the dreamers and me! La-da-da-dee-la-doo-ooh. La-la-la-la-dee-da... doo. 🎵

*audience applauds Emerald*

Mr. A: I think we've found this year's winner! Emerald Hedgehog... and Bluey Heeler!

Bluey: Go ahead, E. Take a bow.

Emerald smiles and takes some bows as we Iris out.
