"WHY isn't my child crying?" The doctor says something to the nurse and she rushes out quickly, while holding my child.

"Mr Caruso, your son isn't breathing properly, we need to get him to the NICU. Diamond, I need you to keep pushing, so we can get the last one out. Don't stress, everything will be fine." Diamond nods as tears stream down her face. I'll try to comfort her, but how am I supposed to comfort her when I'm scared too.

"He'll be f-fine, they'll all be fine." I stumbles over my words and Diamond nods shakily. She pushes again, but the doctor obviously isn't satisfied with it.

"What's wrong?" Diamond asks, her voice shaking.

"Your baby has a..prolapsed umbilical cord. We need to do an emergency c-section." She can't be fucking serious, why is something wrong with all of my kids, they're premature, one has birth asphyxia, and once has a prolapsed umbilical cord, and on top of that they think my wife has preeclampsia. According Shawn, although he was extremely high when I saw him, so..

"Why is all this stuff happening?" Diamond asks through sobs.

"It has to do with your age, when a mother has a baby at 30-50 she's more at risk than other women, which is why none of this stuff happened with your other child." Diamond nods, as the doctor and nurse get ready to take her into surgery.

Damn this is scary. "Mr Caruso?" I turn and see Doctor Ryan, "We have to ask you some questions, does Diamond have a DNR?" A do not resuscitate?

"I don't think so."

"Okay, this next question is a little harder to answer, in the event something goes wrong, do you want us to save your wife or your-"

"My wife." Babies can't be replaced, I know that, but neither can the love of my life.

Diamond's in surgery, I don't know what's scarier, the fact that she's cut open on the table, or the fact that they won't let me into the room.

Amor mio, is cut open on a table, but they won't let me see her, I can't touch her, can't reassure her, tell her everything will be fine, can't see my babies nothing, my moms whispering reassuring words to me but they're going in one ear and out the other. Nothing will calm me down until I know my babies and my wife are safe.

Nothing will- loud cries rip through the air, and I can't contain the large smile that appears on my face, my child was born safely. I can hear everything in the room and Diamond's soft happy cries, I walk into the room, because they'll have to drag me out of here if they want me to leave, then I see her.
