"Wouldn't it be neat, Mum?" the young adult asked as they pushed themself on the swing. The branch of the old figtree they had found themself on creaked under their weight with each movement. The summer breeze passed through her hair and kicked the skirt of her dress up slightly before dying back down again for a few moments.
A woman with short teal hair and black roots sat nearby, her fingers carding through the pages of her book as she let out a little giggle. Her child had always been the creative one, most likely getting it from their parent. She saw a lot of Netherum in the pink-haired child.
Soul listened as her child created his own little world of crazy characters and crazy lands. A wolf that could disappear; A bird person who never seemed to slow down; A mad scientist; A power-hungry queen and her vengeful knight; A wanderer and his knight and so many more, just as crazy as the last.
She didn't know how Athena came up with these crazy stories.
"Very much so, my dear." She looked up from her spot against the roots of the figtree, her eyes trailing up to see the sun begin its descent behind the hills. She closed her book, her fingers gently tracing over the cover before she attempted to get up off of the floor.
Her black dress swayed at her ankles- it would never be known that she usually wore pants underneath for extra comfort. Not that she wore dresses often, that was more of her child and partner's feat.
A sigh escaped her pink lips as she stretched her arms out in front of her, Athena still swinging beside her. Quiet hums escaped his lips as he enjoyed the time with his mother. It had been a warm summer's day so the mother-child duo took advantage of that by making a trip to the market for dinner supplies before retiring to the tree for the afternoon.
Soul took a few steps to her right in order to stand in front of her child, smiling as they continued to push themself and enjoy the warm breeze. "Come on, dear. Time to prepare dinner."
Athena's swinging slowly ceased as a frown developed on her face. "Oh, please, mother, just a few more minutes!"
The woman smiled softly, a soft smile finding its way across her lips. She shook her head, "okay, but be back before the sun is completely gone, please."
