2cd grade is meant to be easy; show up make friends and enjoy every second of it. I tried to enjoy it by joining my schools ballet. I was as great at any 2cd grader would be, worked hard so I can be up front because maybe if I was up front my mom or dad would show to my recital.
"And a 1...2...3...4" I started twirling around in my new tutu as the audience clapped for their kids and were recording for the memories. I started searching for my parents hoping to see their faces in the crowd.I smile so brightly as the recital comes to an end, even though I never spotted my parents in the crowd.
The principal thanks us as all the other girls who danced with me runs off stage to greet their parents with the biggest smiles I have ever seen.Leaving me standing alone in the corner as my dance teacher came to give me a hug and tell me how amazing I did! I thanked her trying to hold me tears in as I knew why they hadn't shown up even though everyday I would remind them.
I wiped away my tears and threw on the biggest smile I could that if anyone looked close enough could tell it was fake.I knew my mommy was working as a single mom of 5 and my dad somewhere on a corner getting high forgetting he even had kids.
I am Amberly Cooper I had to keep a brave face on no matter what.No one could know what we was going through my mommy always said "CPS can never know if I didn't want to get taken."
This is the moment when it really became clear what my life was like. The first day I really grew up to young; I finally understood everything a child my age shouldn't have to learn about. "The world isn't a fair place."
