Fenrys Moonbeam, blood sworn to Queen Aelin was seasick.
That was all that could be said for him as he sailed towards the West, to a kingdom which was 3 weeks away, which he had endured in silence.
Fenrys had been tasked by Aelin (after he himself had suggested it all those months ago) to go to a nearby kingdom in the west, to learn how they ruled, how they allowed the people to properly vote, and to possibly strike a trade deal with their Leader which would mean a future of good relations between them and Terrasen.
Fenrys had researched everything he could on the kingdom he was visiting, it's name was the Kingdom Of Aculon and was ruled by the Victorian Royal Family, its current monarch, king Cynfael had implicated some changes during his reign which gave his people a bigger say in how to rule.
King Cynfael had removed all lords and ladies and had combined all the different territories into smaller sectors, there were 5 provinces which had been dismantled into 20 states. Within those states he had appointed boards of governors who would allow the people to vote in what they wanted, give that vote to a regional governor (which was incharge of 5 states, there were 5 of them) and those regional governors would then give the votes to the King and he would apply the changes if necessary or if the King took them to his liking.
Fenrys had asked his queen to give him a small boat, nothing too fancy, so he could travel to the kingdom. But Aelin being Aelin gave him the second largest traveling ship in the Terrasen navy, the WindWalker.
Fenrys was also going for a second reason, he had heard of a group of people in the kingdom, who were known to communicate with the dead. Fenrys wanted to meet them so he could atone for the death of his Brother, Connal, who had killed himself infront of Fenrys after Maeve had ordered him to. Fenrys had blamed himself as Connal had said that he never shared the spotlight and let Connal live in the shadows. Fenrys had the guilt in his heart from all those months and although he could still use his ability to teleport short distances, it was not as perfect as when Connal was alive.
So Fenrys sailed towards Aculon, he was going to reach the dock in about 2 hours and could see the dock up ahead. He spent those 2 hours thinking of how he would approach the King, he had sent a message before hand and had even gotten a reply from the king, saying that he would be glad to meet Fenrys.
After 2 hours Fenrys left the boat and was being escorted to the palace via horseback, with the captain of the guard of Aculon leading him on his own horse. He was silent and in his own thoughts, until he saw the castle.
It was magnificent, like nothing he'd ever seen. It was made completely of Iron and steel, no doubt to prevent magic users from attacking and destroying it, it rose high into the sky and was almost touching the clouds, it was stretched out and had several towers, despite being made of iron and steel it had a purplish colour, no doubt to resemble the purple flag of Aculon.
The Captain, who's name was James, led Fenrys into the palace where the King sat on a throne made of what looked like Obsidian.
Even though the castle took his breath away, Fenrys was not surprised to see all the iron and steel and obsidian. The Victorian Royal Family was known to have strong earthern magic which also included bending the earth and it's elements to their will. Cynfael was considered to be one of the strongest amongst the long line of earth mages, as they liked to call themselves.
Nevertheless, James beckoned him forward and he approached the King, he bowed his head towards him and said "Your Majesty, I am Fenrys Moonbeam, blood sworn to Aelin Galathynius and member of her court. As I have mentioned in a previous letter, I am here to help in creating a trade between our kingdoms which could benefit them for years and maybe even decades."
The King replied "Yes, I received your letter explaining all this, it is an honour to meet you, everyone within this castle knows of Fenrys Moonbeam and his cadre. I am more then happy to discuss an alliance and trade deal, however unfortunately I am not currently available to discuss this matter. There are...issues rising within Aculon and I have to deal with them. I can discuss these matters with you tomorrow, however I would not like you to think that we do not offer guests our hospitality. I will give you the room we usually offer to ambassadors. Have you any queries?"
Fenrys gritted his teeth, he wanted to be done with the diplomatic stuff quickly so he could find the cult that would help him atone for his brother's death, but he sighed and said "No queries your majesty, I am tired after the long trip and would like to see the room". The King agreed and commanded James to take him there, they went up several flights of stairs up one of the towers where he was sent into his room.
The room was average sized, with a double bed and a separate smaller room which was the washroom, on the wall there was a human sized portrait of the king. Fenrys dropped of all the things he didn't need except for his bow, a few arrows and some hunting knives. He had decided that he would explore the city today, trying to find the cult and then tomorrow after discussing the trade deal with the King, he would begin atoning for his brother's death.
He left the castle in an hour after taking a quick bath and entered the city, it was similar to the lowly streets of Rifthold, but at least they smelled better, people went about shop to shop buying and selling as they needed, here in Xyr, the capital of Aculon, and in every other part of the kingdom currency wasn't used, the kingdom heavily believed in trading an item for an item. Which Fenrys respected.
Fenrys entered a small street which seemed to be empty, he walked towards the other side, hoping to find the underworld of this city, so he could ask around about the cult,
He was so deep in thought that he didn't notice as a curious looking Osprey landed behind him, transformed into an adult Fae warrior and quickly put a knife to his throat.
