Chapter 2: Shocking News!

(Author's note: O/N stands for Owl Name, that's right! You're getting an owl in this chapter! Better think up a good name quick!)

About a month or so had passed since the 'escape' of the boa constrictor incident and I was grateful for the coming of the summer months at last. This also meant that Harry's birthday was coming up as well!

I had already gone to the store and picked up Harry a present earlier that week consisting of a small box of chocolates and a dragon action figure that I really hoped Harry would enjoy adding to his collection of mythical creature action figures that I had given him over the years.

I wrapped the two presents up in the smallest box I could fit them in so that Harry would be able to smuggle them into his 'room' under the stairs. The both of us had learned the hard way not to show the presents to any of the Dursleys if there was any hope of Harry keeping a hold of them.

After finishing up wrapping the present in colorful papers, I skipped downstairs to show my parents only to interrupt what seemed to be a tense whisper conversation between my mum and dad, a letter resting on the table between the two of them.

As soon as they spotted me, my parents shared one last glance, F/N giving a solemn nod before my mother finally spoke up. "Hey sweetpea, I hope you slept well, mum and dad have a lot to talk to you about for your upcoming years of school! Why don't you have a seat?"

Sadness immediately washed over me as I remembered that this was the last year Harry and I were going to be at the same school, in the upcoming years I would be going to a separate private school. Of course, the Dursleys had decided to send Harry to the cheapest school around, if only they had decided on the next school up, then both of us would at least still be able to go together!

With a sigh, I would look up at my parents and listen to what my mother had to say, "Y/N, I know you haven't really been looking forward to this upcoming year of school, it's a big change and Harry wouldn't be there to support you either, but... What if I said that it didn't have to be that way..?"

I immediately perked up after hearing this, unsure of what my mum meant before my dad spoke up next, "Willow, I think by now you've realized that you're different from other kids, special. A lot of strange things have happened around you. Remember that one time when your favorite potted flower died, and you started crying next to it when it suddenly grew back?" I nodded, that was a bit odd, but it had certainly made me happy!

My dad continued, "Or even more recently at Dudley's birthday party when the glass seemingly vanished on that Boa's exhibit and the snake escaped. Well, hon... That was all you, maybe with a little help from Harry as well!"

It took a moment for me to process all of this before I spoke up skeptically once again, "What do you mean that was all me? And with help from Harry, like we're magic or something?"

My mother couldn't help but chime in now with an excited squeal, unable to maintain her enthusiasm, "Yes sweetpea, that's exactly it! You're a witch Y/N!"

I stared at them both, open-mouthed and unsure if they were pulling my leg or not until my dad smiled and passed me a letter with my name on it titled "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry."

I read that letter at least ten times over before asking one final time, "Is this real..?"

My dad gave me another smile and replied, "Yes, yes, it is pumpkin. You're a witch! And if you still don't believe us you can go next store and ask Harry, he should have gotten one too!"

My eyes lit up as I quickly scrambled to my feet at the aspect of talking to Harry about this, but my mother's hand and next words kept me from bolting off just yet, "Whoa, woah! First, we need to tell you a few things about this world, okay?"
