Season 1 Chapter 5: To Be Reborn

The ten minutes were now up as Team Z goes under a position change as their center forward was Naruhaya as Isagi had the ball at his feet. Naruhaya swiftly slips behind two defenders and runs towards the goal and at the same time, Isagi passes the ball to him, but the defender blocks the pass.

Team Y Defender #1 : Oh, no, you don't!

Isagi : I'm sorry, Naruhaya!

The ball falls to the feet of another player from Team Y as Kuon and Raichi immediately run towards him with a double press.

Kuon : Press them!

Raichi : Get the ball back!

Igarashi runs towards the player with the ball and tries to steal it back, but the player passes it over to Niko only for it to be blocked by Isagi.

Isagi : *to Niko* I'll snuff out every single pass that comes your way!

Niko : You're a pesky one, aren't you?

Naruhaya : We'll force our way through. Let's go again!

Igarashi : Hey, Isagi! It's time to use your weapon!

Isagi : Stay put! We'll carry on using Naruhaya's formation!

Igarashi : Huh? Are you sure?

Isagi : *nods* Yeah! ( Instead of going up top and upsetting the balance, if I stop him here, it gives us a better chance of scoring. )

With that said, Isagi continues to keep his eyes on Niko and heavily man-marks him so that he could shut down any passes that came to him while the rest of Team Z continued to play with Naruhaya's formation.

Niko : You all heard Ego's speech about "taking up your weapon", too, right?

Isagi : What about it?

Niko : It got me thinking... "What is my weapon"? Everyone here at Blue Lock has incredible talent. There's no way I can outperform Ohkawa when it comes to shooting. But I can't afford to lose. I can't run fast, and I don't have a muscular physique. So my weapons to survive this place are: my eyes that can accurately read the situation on the field, and my brain that excels at coordinating people. You may manage to stop me, but you can't stop my ideas.

Isagi : *confused* ( What does that mean? )

After Naruhaya's ten minutes were up Team Z switched formations once more and now Igarashi was up as the center forward. However, Team Y continues to pass the ball around making it hard for Team Z to intercept a pass or steal the ball.

Igarashi : Damn it! All they're doing is playing keep-ball! Are they settling for a draw?

Isagi : ( I'm stopping Okawa from linking up with Niko for a counterattack. ) It's not that they won't attack... They have no one who can start one!

Kunigami : Then, all we have to do is attack! Let's move up!
